Guess we'll see how this goes. He has the ability to be a top signing for us. It does make sense with Holmes picking up an injury. He's also played a lot of centre for Wakey too so gives us cover there.
You can also see how a Patton/Gaskell partnership could be a disaster.
A bit undecided for mine, no doubt he has bags of talent on his day.. but how often does he have those days. Think he’s filling the void left by Walker, and that is where I would play him when everyone is fit, full back. Holmes is more effective for the team at half back and seems to bring the best out of Patton. Time will tell how good a signing he is but it’s nice to see we can still attract his like.

As much as I disagree with having him back. The more I think, the more I’m thinking: Holmes at FB. Gaskell as a running 6. Patton as an organising 7. I can see this working very well. With Lawford learning off them both.

Holmes Blackmore Arundel Gill Foggin-Johnston Gaskell Patton Baldwinson Segeyaro Lawrence England Butler Thompson
Lilley Scurr Rodgers Appo
I’m thinking that’s a top 3 side. That’s without Flanagan, Wallace, Foster, Johnson etc.
Or Walker coming back as and when he’s not required at Hull KR.
Personally I’d play Gaskell at 6. With Holmes coming from FB.
Just need to strenthen on the wing. Wynn for Foggy. Batieri isnt coming over not to play so Butler or England tto miss.out (Butler for me) with Thompson in to the 2nd row, then that side will take some beating.
Having watched him for the last 18 months I am glad to be rid of him and I think most of our fans would agree, he is shot, has no pace and because of a shoulder/bicep injury he cannot tackle. All in all considering we were paying him over £100k a year one of the worst signings we have made.

Sometimes players need a change of scenery and he might go better with a few SL quality players around him.
