Can anyone tell me how wire play, it’s not open free flowing, it’s not defensive I’ve no idea what we try to do and foremost what we’ve done all week in training, Wigan had 12 players but able to make an overlap and score, we had13(I think) and never able to pass and catch(basic rugby) and set wingers free, matty Ashton never gets ball in hand in space unreal, why not get big slow winger who can take ball out like a second rower.

Out of the numerous pages of responses to today this one is the most telling... The style is up the middle and the success of that power game left the team when mikaele went back... It's funny as Powell showed free styling attack with Castleford....today we never attempted to power down the middle and then off quick ruck out to the flanks... Really doesn't help that the centres are pedestrian and neither can give the wingers we have a chance..we were an easy team to defend against with 12 .... Apart from the lack of game management nous today there is also the ages old one of just being mentally soft .... bizarrely despite this we have in the main players to turn it around if only we had the likes of a Rowley to improve there on field skill set

I'm not sure Powell, or any coach at SL level, should have to coach his players how to catch, or hold onto, a rugby ball, which was the main reason why we lost today.
Even if we had the greatest coach in the world, putting together the best attacking moves available in training, it still wouldn't produce an improvement if the players go out on matchday and make the basic errors our lot did today.
And so you aim towards the sky, And you'll rise high today, Fly away, Far away, Far from pain....

I've seen kids coaches who are better than Powell. And I hope that tool gazwire is still defending him(I know he will be!)
'I've done things i'm not proud of. And the things i am proud of,.......well they're disgusting'
Powell deserves to go, he coaches the team, our defence is woeful, we skip a yard after the opposition ptb, then jus wait passively in a line and let the opposition make an easy ten yard gain, this marches us down the pitch time and time again, forcing us back deep into our own half, time and time again. We have to then make our forwards work out of our own half before we get into attacking positions. Sorry my mistake did I say our forwards, I meant an Ashton, Thewlis, or whichever lightweight winger / centre to take the ball up, first two drives to compensate for our unfit / fat lazy forwards, barring Vaughn who is being flogged atm. Every man and his dog, even stevie wonders dog, know who is taking the first 2 hit ups. Whichever opposition we face the forwards Re foaming at the mouth lining up our backs like school boy bullies. There is no variation, is that down to the players? Or the coach? Earlier in the year we had a modicum of variation in our play, that has gone, I though the appointment of Marshall as our defensive coach had changed things, we now appear to be back to the dross of last year. Small points, but earlier in the year our kick offs, almost every single one were landing, behind the post giving the opposition the full length of the pitch to come back at us. Now every kick off seems to be dropping short of the 20. These are just small small observations, but again this must be coached. Are we not fit enough, or fast enough to get up on the opposite team? Moving on to attack, where start, blimeyni could be here all night, but the obvious, williams can not operate behind a beaten pack, we are light, kasiano, is the new Leikvol, / loads of other foreign bums we’ve had over the last few years, does 20 minutes at most and is blowing for 10 of those 20, drinkwater is pedestrian , but 10 x better than Mata’utia, and our best half ball bar williams on loan at Castelford, is Dean any good, who knows when it’s play one drop one, play one drop one, will we ever know if he doesn’t get a run on games in the team. gareth o Brian anyone, he would stroll into this team atm along with George king, Charnley, leagues top try scorer, anyway I digress. Okay Powell didn’t get rid of O’Brien and king, but did fetch in minikin, Mata’utia and all the other under achievers who have already been shown the door. At the end of the day it is Powell who is overseeing our team, it’s is Powell’s team who have conceded overlap tries more than once over the past 2 seasons when having a man advantage, Powell who took us closest to relegation last year. Does the book stop with him, Coaching wise it had to. Who else is to blame? Powell Out please. Fitzpatrick has overseen not a lot apart from a suprise win against Saints at Wembley a few years back, Another abject pie eater who shouldn’t be anywhere near our club, I’ve been watching the wire since 1975 season ticket holder and love the club, but am so disheartened atm. Come on Moran, get rid of the under achievers starting with KF & DP.

There’s a fella in the NRL on the coaching staff of one of the clubs who sit top of the league, bit of a legend in these parts. His appointment would unite and lift the fans immeasurably.
Give me another period in the last 20 years where warrington have been as competitive and consistent with these 3 in charge. And coaching the team.
The team we have now is equal if not higher rated in proportion to the Smith teams. And yet. The performances we see now are no where near on par compared to any team performance we have had in the last 20 years. We should consistently be challenging with the players we have. But yet we are seeing mediocre performances that are worse than anything Steve price produced as coach. Dispite how much we complained about his performances as a coach. Imagine what Tony Smith can do with these players.
