There are positives to take from today but also some big calls to make by Smith I feel. McIntosh has done his time in reserves, played well and earned his chance again, but I don't feel like he took it. Costly errors at the end when just holding the ball would have seen us attacking Salford's line. Does Smith now drop him after just 1 game back in? Or give him another shot? Personally just don't think he's good enough at this level but not sure if we've got anybody else who is. Scott isn't the answer on the wing. Would like to see Martin given a go to be honest, but would he a huge ask against Warrington for his debut.
Lads didn't give up and certainly didn't throw the towel in. Not the best display but still think we are heading in right direction. In the game right till the end. Dust our selves down and go again. In truth the team we have now are not top 6. We need a few new players to move forward which Smith is sorting. Onwards and upwards

Agree, the efforts there and there is a lot more creativity in our attack but some of the players just aren't top6 standard.
Only worry for me is Hoy seems error prone and he is meant to be one of the players for the future. Not writing him off yet though

As you say it maybe a huge ask giving Martin a go but only for the lad’s confidence if he has a poor game as McIntosh has done himself no favours or the team with his performance today.
Agree Scott isn’t a winger but unless we give the likes of Barron or Martin a go and Litten is injured he’s the best option there.
Do think had Carlos been in the side with Scott on the wing we’d likely have knicked the win.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

What do we have to lose by playing Martin, we won't go down or finish in the play offs. He might struggle, but maybe he has a great game and gives Smith food for thought with recruitment.
Hopefully Litten will be back and play on the wing.

I’ve been critical of Houghton in the past and have praised his recent performances but today I thought he was pretty ineffective and not helped by the amount of work we had to do due to errors etc which was compounded by not spelling him.
A game we could have and should have won but too many errors and poor completion gifted it to Salford.
Cant say I agree.
Had our completition rate being up there and we hadnt had bad disclpline I really think we would have won the game.

Absolutely agree with this. Martin and two or three other young lads should be given a chance.
Give them game time see how they go and the experience will be invaluable for next season.

That’s the issue though as our completion rate was awful along with the discipline and brain farts meaning the work we had to do in defence took a lot of gas out of us which is why Houghton needed spelling instead of leaving him out there.
I don’t disagree that had we completed at a higher rate we’d have likely won but we didn’t, that’s what for me lead to Houghton being ineffective and resulted in Houghton for me not been near where he’s been the last 4 games. Which is why I think Bonaire point was pretty valid in terms of pushing Houghton through 80 mins like the past few seasons.
