I really dont know why they re-lay the pitch instead of repairing it.

Given the Latics lack of money I am surprised that they have ripped the pitch up at all, but am glad it will be all sorted so a lucrative home tie can be held at home.

Realistically, getting 15k & that being a sell-out each week would make it a better atmosphere. I know the accountants will disagree, but I look at the Leigh (A) game earlier this year. As a fan, I'd prefer a ground felt full like that & the benefits of the atmosphere it tends to generate.

The club are doing loads and I genuinely tip my hat to them. The quickest way to raising attendances however would be to make it game night a must for any Wigan fan, causal or not. Atmosphere plays a huge part in that imo.

One thing I haven’t liked this year is them making the North a community stand, which has low meant people are rattling around 4 stands most weeks and not just 3. They must have their reasons but I always felt we needed to get more people in to the South Stand, not take them away. I also felt that the away fans (bar for a couple of local games) should be housed down the south end of the East stand but rather than doing things like that, the crowd is now spread all over the place. Ultimately the ground is too big 90% of the time but I think they could do things better when it comes to helping an atmosphere along and helping with the general ‘feel’ of the place.

But...these are the types of games that end up causing embarrassment in front of a national audience. The stadium won't be half full (we'd probably do well to get close to that) and the club looks ridiculous as a result. At least at stadiums half the size like Leigh or Warrington the optics are a little better. The other thing is that you end up losing most of the 'home advantage'. Whether its playoff games or cup games it seems to only be the hardcore supporters who buy tickets (i.e. the ones who attend home and away games). You then end up with games where the away fans outnumber the home fans (or come close to doing so).

Season ticket holders don’t want to pay for a ticket they think should be included when buying a season ticket is mainly why these games draw low crowds.

The games I dread are home challenge cup games and home playoff games.

Away support normally unaffected and if it’s a playoff it’s huge following.

Whereas the home stands are desolate.

I’d rather be away.

Ticketing info has been released - very reasonable prices. The concession age range is listed as 18-42 - does anyone know if this is the case for all games or just this one?
