The real match winner for Wigan though was Newman - sign him up!

I think French deserves some credit for that play - look at how he positioned himself between Newman and the support player until the last possible second and was looking at the support player, which I think put Newman in two minds

Don’t praise a Wigan player, it’s not what we do on this forum. I’m

Don't think Leeds are a major force at present, or even close to one. We gifted them possession and territory that they hadn't earned, which kept them in the game. They also looked pretty weak in defence, and proved very vulnerable when we sorted out our attack. A fully firing Wigan should have blown them away, as they should last week.

But ... it was a 'get back on the horse' game for Wigan, so we had to overcome the psychological disadvantage of having lost two winnable games on the bounce and the growing fear that we might be about to slide into a losing streak (all the more so, given that we 'lost' the first half today). On top of that, the ever present injury crisis continues. We get Marshy back, and then lose Havard ... and none of these seem to be 'one week off' jobs.

Lots of reasons why Wigan could have gone into their shell today and been well beaten again. But they showed the inner strength to put all that aside and do what needed to be done.

Full credit to the lads for that, and special credit to Matty Peet for what must have been a serious half-time pep talk.

Just got back, really enjoyed that win. Poor first half which must have led to a belter of a team talk as we came back out all guns blazing.

Can only echo what's already been said, Wardle excellent and his best game in a Wigan shirt, Hampshire was a welcomed sight who threatened in attack, French excellent as usual with some great try saving tackles and N'Semba was awesome and took his try well, should give him the desire to push for a place every week. It's moments like that you play for.

Although reading the injury report from Peet he should get a chance to play that run of games. Havard thought to be a dislocated elbow, Isa going to be out for months and KPP out of 8 weeks after injuring his leg in training.

Doing it tough in the forwards this season.

Nasty one for Havard. His elbow was bent way beyond where it should go.

Looked very painful and likely a long recovery.

We're now down 2 more 2nd row's and 1 more prop long term injuries. Going to be a challenging few months

8 weeks for KPP and 'months' for Isa. Nsemba and Hill will get gametime but even with them involved we could do with bringing someone in from the outside.

DannyT wrote:Cheers to you too. There really are a set of people on here who elevate themselves on a pedestal, get over yourselves. That first half had few positives. The second half, was much more controlled with a struggle trying to get Shorrocks into a position to have an impact from any interchanges because he’s just a body now without a position. Wardle (as previously mentioned), Nsemba and French the positives but it’s all we can rely on at the minute in attack with French, he’s carrying everyone else.

Bl00dy hell! And there I was thinking we won. Didn't realise we were completely outplayed, dominated in the forwards and had few positives. Must have been an embarrassing scoreline. I'll go and check what it was...

Strange. All the reports have us as winning too. Can't believe they've all got it so wrong. What a bunch of numpties.

I would need to watch it back, but I don't think it's anything to do with French. The support player over runs him. Luckily (or unluckily as we still had to defend a tackle or two) Newman realises and goes alone.
