6th is par for me. But unless we have a really poor rest of season, I think Smith stays regardless.

Given that the standard is very poor this year, we should have the squad to make the top 6.
But even though we are still in the mix, we are way too inconsistent at the moment.
And regardless of what all the 'glass half full' guys think, the knives are already out.
If we miss out on the top 6, he could potentially be in trouble.

not put in a good, solid 80 minute performance and we are halfway through may.
that's a massive concern

Why do you say the standard is very poor this year? Cas and Wakey are poor, and Hull haven't been great but on the whole there are some pretty handy teams, with everybody beating each other. Generally that's a sign of strength rather than weakness. I'd say the standard across the board is certainly better than it was in 22, 21, 20 and 19. My memory gets hazy beyond that. If you are so desperate for a sacking you'd be better off following Leeds United.

just because it's more equal doesnt make the overall standard good.
it's far from good

For me the standard had been in decline for around 10 years. Even when we did the treble, it was already sliding. Being good and being competitive aren’t the same thing, the league is becoming more competitive but the standard of play is noth8ng like what it was in the 2000-2013 era.

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

People have been saying 'the standard this year is poor' for as long as I can remember. It tends to be the fans of teams that are poor or inconsistent that spout it the most. Rosy retrospection is a real thing.

What do you attribute it to?

poor youth development.
standard of overseas players dropping mainly due to aussie salary cap rising.
poor coaches.
it's a shame but how many really enjoyable, good quality games do we get a season? not a huge amount.
it used to be nearly every side had decent overseas players. good English talent. you always had poor sides but you also had entertaining games. the days of a webb, lyon etc coming over are long gone
