Just seen a graphic that since that grand final ban got overturned, he’s played around 13 games, with 8 matches and this latest red card spread throughout that time. His longest run of games since then has been 6.
If I were a saints fan I’d be concerned. The old saying ‘availability is an ability’ rings true here.

just watched it on YouTube. absolute shocker. the guy really is a piece of work. I would expect, with his record, at least 4 games. makes saints pathetic efforts to make him available for last season's grand final very shallow.

As an aside, I think McDonnell has been very good. You can tell he came through the Wigan academy. His defence and positioning have been on point. He's also chipped in with a couple of trys from good running lines. Of the Ablett mold, consistent and dependable.
Not a bad shout that with the Ablett comparison - Ablett was a bit more physical in his prime. He was actually one of my favourite players ultra consistent.

I think McDonnell could be a great player I'd like to see him get more running chances on the edge if he can match Abletts service to the club he'll have been an inspired signing.
