Just seen pics of Jacob Jones training with Widnes on their social media. Appears to be another one we have been unable to keep in the squad for longer

Not many careers where offered a job in Widnes or in London you’d go for the former. Not sure what this says about him, us or RL in general. Only know this is shaping up to be a season of modest improvement. Really modest improvement. In absolute fairness, if Leigh stay up, which looks likely, he may be moving on. In which case he’ll want to be in the shop window. He’s probably the type of player we should sign up but if the deal isn’t right or PT work is more plentiful in mid table Widnes or he is half way through a degree at a Lancs based college, then it makes some sense to avoid bottom third of table London. Happy days. When is the next World Cup? I hear it’s a great opportunity to sign up players!?!!!

Plenty of loan action going on, Broncos aside. Not sure about this one Championship side loaning players to another one for a short spell- eg Ellis from York to Swinton for a month.

On current evidence I'm not sure how reliant upon Wigan we can be, if we suddenly find ourselves in need of some emergency cover, as will no doubt happen at some point. Silva and Hill aside, the majority of the players Wigan look to have available are outside backs and hookers/half backs, not positions that we are really in great need of currently. I would be happy if we were able to keep Silva for the remainder of the season as you say. I doubt we will see much more of Miski now that Jai Field is out for a couple of months and he's played well for them when called upon.
I wonder how much geography is playing into some of the decision making and whether we have the same issue in attracting DR players as we do permanent signings from up north i.e. are players willing to take themselves away from home to come down for a part time spell and how attractive a proposition are we making it? If we can't offer a full time environment, then what else do we really have?
I’m calling it. Our much vaunted DR with Wigan was a euphemism for saying we had Silva on loan for the season.

I did hear a rumour that Cake/Lobster were trying to agree a DR with Acton & Willesden & Streatham & Mitcham. Trouble is they are having problems with finding someone to deal with.

Swinton and Bulls appear to be hitting the DR button real hard. I’m torn on it as on one side we are clearly missing out, on the other parachuting people in for 2-4 weeks is disrespectful to the players you have and makes a nonsense of all that old pony about team culture. I suspect that if all our players are off contract at end of season we would struggle to get anyone signed permanently for half a season so we may not be seeing many new faces.

DR or Loan's, call it what you will is getting a lil out of hand (apart from us). They really need to introduce some regulation on this. Maybe a maximum number of loans per season or something. Who will be the first club to have no players but complete a season using purely DR/Loan players?
Dean Whare has just signed. Didn't see that one coming. It's fair to say he seems to be winding down his career, he is signing from Pia, but could be a good person to have around the youngsters.
