This season is a write off already, even if we do manage to sneak into the playoffs. Get someone decent in now and start planning for 2024 as a priority.
I’ll give you imbalanced- reading between the lines, Patten was meant to leave in the off-season and his wage was meant to go to the PNG centre/wing. But that didn’t happen.
I would change what you’ve said to - 4 halfbacks, 2 of which are poor as a half back pairing. The preferred half back pairing has managed about 15 minutes so far. I accept we’ve a thin back line and instead of a poor set of props I would say an injured set of first choice props leaving us with the unenviable choice of putting in loanees or the reserve props.

The other thing is Walkers support play. It’s really good. I’ve no wonder the team are struggling to accept if they make a half break he’ll pretty much be there. At Barrow that was one of the obvious failures. I think we made 4 line breaks in total, 3 of which ended with Walker supporting the ball carrier and not being given the ball. The rest of the team are not used to him yet.

I wouldn't call it a right off yet. We're capable of beating anyone on our day (we've beaten all the current top 5 except Fev) it just needs someone to get rid of the complete capitulations this team still has.
Throw-in Holmes, Lawrence, Appo, Arundel, Blackmore, Thompson, Baitieri, England, that's half the squad and we're a different animal. What we need is a coach capable of instilling abit of back bone and discipline in the squad when the above names aren't playing and things go against us.

He's an uncompromising character which might put noses out of joint and I think Nigel will want someone that he can control and who won't rock the boat. In summary I can't see it happening.
One thing if Adamson came the players would be fit!!
He can organise one hell of a party - once went to a beach party he organised in Leeds - legendary event.

So Lee Greenwood can't afford to give up his part time job to apply for head coach due to the low salary offered.
Think that's just about confirms what we all suspected about the last recruitment process. Any high calibre applicants probably laughed out loud when Nigel told them what he was willing to pay.
I think we can scrub off some of the names mentioned on this thread.

Are you suggesting that a "Come manage some bad apples for minimum wage" advert won't be mouth-watering to talented coaches?!

I read it more the salary isn't enough for him to give up a secure full time job, plus his part time salary with us for a job that he could be out of and unemployed in less than a year.
At least our world wide search will go a little farther this time. Unless Nobby takes it on...

I wouldn't get your hopes up. You might read it like that if we hadn't gone through a 2 month recruitment process previously to then give it to the guy already at the club.

I suspect we'd be surprised to learn the typical salaries of coaches, staff and, for that matter, players.
I don't know what Lee Greenwood does for a job, but if he had a decent job at, say, £60K per year - and then gets more for a part-time gig coaching with us, then he'd probably need close to £100K per annum to take the risk of giving up his job knowing that he might be sacked in 12 months.
I doubt there are many coaches in the English game earning that kind of money.
How much do people imagine the coach of Halifax or York gets? So long as we're offering somewhere in that zone, I don't think we can ask for any more than that, frankly...
