Comes with success sadly. They'll all start to disappear if the trophies do.

That's nothing new and entirely alcohol related. Always the same at Grand Finals as well. The losing end always has fighting and people unable to contain their emotions, no matter who the finalists are. If you notice there is an identical thread on Redvee every time Saints lose a big game. It was made worse this time by the fact Wigan aren't used to the traffic in the away end and can't serve anyone anywhere near quickly enough, so you cannot get a drink at the game without missing 20 minutes of the match. So a lot were hitting the One Stop for a crate to make up for it and most were the type to need ID to make such purchases. (And the complete lack of bins in Wigan and the lack of care from the drinkers means you have several thousand cans of lager disposed of al-fresco which is another Good Friday issue that annoys me) Kicking off at 12 would be a good idea, but it's a shame to spoil a nice day for the majority because of a load of young lads who haven't been taught how to behave in public.

5k Saints (great following I agree)
Leaves 19k Wigan, which is 7k upwards of of our calculated average attendance at the moment.

The club needs to entice as many of those 7k floaters as they can. Start with actively marketing the Wire, Leigh and Leeds home games for starters. If we can increase our average by a couple of thousand this season then we are on the right track (especially with higher cost of living at the moment).

Wigan did this a few years ago by advertising games against Wire and Leeds as “The Big One.” They got 20,000 plus crowds. Each Club needs to seriously target a couple of games each season for some extra marketing.

I'll never get Salford's lack of crowds. They play the most entertaining rugby in the game and it's a great ground for RL. Bizarre stuff seeing them unable to attract 8,000+.

Crowds at Salford have been pretty poor for a long time but UTD playing at home last night would have done them no favours

We all know that there are no Man U fans in Manchester.

But in all seriousness, they should be able to pull in more supporters from such a big catchment area. Even if there are plenty of other sporting and leisure options. The Rhinos fixture clashed with Leeds United on Sunday, as well as plenty of other events going on in the city, but they still pulled in 13.5k.

It was typical RL bad luck that Salfords grand final appearance was followed up by a covid disrupted season and then their CC final was behind closed doors, but yes they continue to play good rugby and should be doing better.
