The problem lis deep within the club and fans mentality.
They seem to demand instant success and don’t appear to give players time to bed into the club.
The fans are fickle and soon get on the back of players, take Milky for example and Seymour.
Given the clubs dire financial situation coupled with latest performances and where they sit in the table it will be difficult to attract players of a decent standard to the West Hull based club.
Quality players want to play for successful clubs, and clubs with financial security and unfortunately Hull FC don’t fit into that bracket.

Depends on what criteria I guess. Last year you won 4 of your first 8 games (and 6 from your first 10), this year 5 from first 8 so yes it's "progress". Obviously on other criteria like homegrown production line, reserves, stadium improvements etc it's still chat and plans as we agreed earlier. The stories you're choosing to attach to it are unequivocally buoyant, and boosted by the fixation on our demise, but the actual tangibles are broadly the same.

No bias here I call it as I see it.

Your mid table at best, a position you held 2 years ago. You will be in the mix but I cant say I am 100 percent you will finish in the 6. Currentley I have Wigan, Wire,Cats and Saints better then you. Youll be battling the other places out with Salford, Huddersfield and Leeds.

Other then the purchase of your stadium I dont see alot of other improvements off the field other then your BOD saying they plan to do XYZ. I hope it comes off for you as any club improving is only good for the sport.

Your academy situation is still very poor and your crowds are roughly the same barring when tickets are practically given away.

However that said I can see why they is optimism, your first team is competitve and you have managed to create extra revenue streams. Given with the board you have assembled you could achieve some great things but this is rugby league and its very rare what owners say they are going to do is actually followed up.

Your right to be very optimistic but I definetley feel FCs decline is making KR fans feel they are further down the road then they actually are.

Just to manage expectations, the club can’t get rid of twenty players and hope to replace them at the end of the season so I think unfortunately it’s inevitable that some will be retained ? Unpopular opinion but Fash and Cator are just not big enough, no matter how enthusiastic they are, like Donaldson at Leeds. Lane should be shipped off to Cornwall or further if that’s possible ! Shaul & Taylor finished and injury prone, what’s the betting at least one of them gets a year contract ?

Someone told me after the game that Danny Houghton wife is ill and that’s why he didn’t play. No idea if any truth in it.

Re Tony Smith, a Rovers fan told me (to be fair he’s quite well connected) that he doesn’t like anyone to question him or his methods, could explain why Savelio was missing ? I know he can’t kick off on Sky Sports but to me he just doesn’t seem to show any emotion (never has not just with us) I like the guy and his pedigree is fantastic but I just don’t know what he can do with this bunch of muppets !

Your academy has had a lot of success in the past. Unfortunately for you the pick of the reasonably recent bunch seem to have been let go. I cannot identify any recent graduates that are in your squad that could be classed as good quality, consistent and established SL players. There is no one that I would want in our squad. There seems little point in having a successful academy if the process does not improve your squad. Please don’t quote Houghton, Shaul or even those of an older vintage. I could quote Taylor. It’s the here and now that is important. Fash is average at best and only has enthusiasm in his favour. I know he received the awards last year but as acknowledged by many FC fans that just emphasised how poor the rest were. Cator from our academy has similar limitations. The Hull FC Academy is often trumpeted in these forums but recently there has been little evidence of its benefits to you.

@pmarrow, the quote function won’t work for me at the moment but I think you make some fair and good points.

It’s a welcome relief to have a decent team performing at a decent level. And to have hopefully jettisoned some baggage (I’ll leave that vague and brief or it’ll turn into a 5000 word rant). But these last few years I feel like… I dunno, missing out on the play-offs would be a little disappointing this year but making them is kinda depressing too. It’s just such a constipated competition. Maybe Wire will add a tiny bit of variety. But yeah, I’ll take whatever mercies, large or small, that are on offer.

Well we arent discussing our academy here and the most successful teams in SL all have fantastic academy set ups. So that kind of flaws your point.

Just more proof that you are more interested in being better then us then winning the competition. Which I dont know why as we are told we are no longer a threat in the city on or off the pitch.

Just because his last 88 posts on RLFans have been about Hull FC that doesn't mean he's obsessed with us.

If he reaches 100 I might send him a telegram with a picture of a giant c0ck coming out the top of his head.
