It’s plain for all to see that the players aren’t responding to the current coaching set up .it’s not all down to the coaching , but barring getting a full team in we are we’re we are, which is up to our necks in the brown stuff and things have to change rapidly. I felt the teams lacklustre first half performance was totally unacceptable at this level , with a bit more bite in the second period , but nowhere near where we should be at . I listened to lynnes interview prematch ,but that talk he did wasn’t replicated on the field at all, an elder statesmen going through the motions for me , but not alone by any means . Would a Danny ward give them the kick up the jacksy they clearly need or do we just carry on regardless. Won’t be many decent coaches sat by the phone waiting for a job , but we dint need a Cleary or Bennet with this lot , just someone who can get them fired up for the fight , something I’m afraid Mash and co can’t do

Is this the same Danny award that in his SL season got London relegated? Don’t see what more he could do better starting behind the 8 ball.
Unless it’s a top quality expensive coach there is no quick fix to this. It will take a lot of application and effort to turn it around.

Even a quality coach needs something to work with, we are failing with the very basics of rugby skill sets , let alone any meaningful attacking or defensive structures . It’s quite obvious now that Mash is struggling as we are well into the season and performances are getting no better
I think all WT supporters want to see is aggression and determination to try to win from minute 1 to minute 80. Plus play with structure and pace evidencing what you’ve been working on throughout the week.
Players running onto the ball hard and trying to make post contact metres, plus tackling hard consistently throughout the game trying to dominate your opponent in the wrestle.
This didn’t happen yesterday especially for the first 40 minutes which was slow and laboured with a lack of urgency (partly shown by Atoni jogging onto the ball with his first touch after conceding a penalty with his first lazy tackle).
This is possibly why Applegarth appeared to be giving them a rollicking at half time. Start of second half Atoni runs onto the ball like a train… why not all the time?
Not sure who is available as coach to take over but it’s got to be an experienced one who has a reputation for being a real motivator and someone who the players are likely to listen to and respond to and if not then know they’ll be dropped.

The point on Atoni - amazingly when he did up the aggression and ran direct and hard at one point he actually split defenders and made some good post contact metres. He looked a little shocked he’s done that but it shows it’s possible. The baseline has to be to take that second half against Cas (where we improved our line speed in defence and actually gained hood territory) and improve upon it by adding in a few attacking plays in opposition 20/30 and picking a smarter kick option on the last.
There were flashes of plays we could put on if we had executed better especially on the left with Dagger/Langi etc. it just needs more detail and further options.
The players can clearly defend for the most part. Just need to spend the next 7 days on the training field only on the opposition 20 line running repeat and consecutive plays. A bit extreme but there is something there. It’s not an easy task to unlock though.
Keep the same HB partnership though as it’ll be the first time we’ve had some consistency there for more than 2 games.

I've only just watched on Sky. To be honest, I thought we did a lot of good things. Silly missed tackles by Ashurst to let Broadbent through and then not watching McShane cost us a soft try. Then after a period of good pressure we find Lino is caught on the line at last tackle so Dagger puts tge kick in. McShane grabs it and goes down field. Could easily have gone past him but it didn't, and Kershaw puts a poor tackle on Eden.
I thought Atoni was awful with the ball but Pitts and Whitbread were really good. I thought Mason ran well early on and was unlucky with the lost ball on the line (knocked out by McShane for me but 50-50) Langi played his best game. Made loads of yards and looked the most likely to do something.
I have to say Smith was the better player compared to Miller. I thought Miller was pretty ineffective for Cas. Unfortunately McShane and Broadbent were very effective.
We are in dire straits but plenty of those players are capable and want to win for Trinity. Small improvements will get us a win. Back line needs to stay as it is. Tafua in for Senior if we need to. Forwards, I'd lose Atoni bring in Kelepi if fit and Bowden if fit.
Group of home games coming up against lower half teams. We need some wins.
Hull and Cas aren't exactly going to win loads more games.
Drained and depressed but still hopeful.

I’d sum it up similar.
Ashurst was increadibly dissapointing for me and would be straight replaced by Tanginoa. Bowden for Atoni and bring Eseh in again as he’s been looking good.
I am still dissapointed with Reece Lyne. He’s a shadow of 2021 player and hasn’t had a good game in ages. Was poor 2022 too.
I’d change Hood and Ashurst though. Senior was ok but thought he jogged it in on return and should’ve got more yards.

Thought Mason and Atoni were poor for us, they made eff all metres, and only did 15 minute stints. Whitbread is brilliant and Pitt’s is great too. Sam Eseh and Eddie Battye must be thinking what have they done wrong to be replaced by Atoni and Mason.
We lack loads of confidence in the opposition 20. Run the same swing play to the wing which is so predictable. We play hot potato with Lino doing off the cuff stuff, which is clearly ineffective. Is it just me but we also seem clueless at actually building pressure for repeat. Defensive mis reads on our attacking shapes or the defence getting numbers wrong on both sides of the ruck are the way most teams score, yet we seem adamant to rush these plays, which leads to us looking clunky, slow and predictable. Our Rugby IQ on attack at the moment Is league 1 standard. I don’t expect us to be Brisbane broncos, but clearly the difference between both teams was the number 9 position in the spine. McShane is very good with an excellent rugby IQ, Hood offers nothing going forward, and Kay simply doesn’t have that IQ, so is very predictable with his darting runs. That’s my thoughts anyway.
