We have to forget about "club Hull". There is no more pride than winning, from wherever you are born. Winning is a mentality, and one we have failed to build on after 2016&17 . There is not going to be an exodus of 20 players, off contract, that would be akin to getting promoted and having to assemble a completely new team and we have to be honest and say we are probably not financially muscular enough to recruit stars from SL or elsewhere. We need to bring through our own players, if good enough, and grab some unknowns from the Aussie reserve grade by giving them the idea of Kingston Upon Thames, as it went with Wade Mckinnon!!!
I think "club hull" has been our downfall with a mixture of players born in the city not playing with pride and having questionable mentalitys, players born in the city retained too long, and players born in the city overrated and kept on.
Poor judgement from whoevers in charge of recuitment and retention.
Were way way too sentimental and loyal to hull born players
I think we do need a complete clear out playing staff wise but it's unrealistic to do it in one off season, we're not playing fifa, there's only a small amount of players available who'd improve our squad, I can see a few 1 year deals been handed out while we slowly rebuild our squad.
I'm not sure "club hull" has been a thing for quite a few years tbh. We haven't gone out of our way to sign/retain Hull born players over non-Hull players recently as far as I can tell.

Very good point.
Finding 2 quality quota replacements shouldn't be a problem if we get in early enough as there is a big pool of talent in the NRL. However there isn't in SL and other clubs will be looking at those players.
We might not like it but we may have to give 1 year deals and rebuild over a couple of years.
This is the problem I have with our contract situation, who thought it would be such a good idea to have so many players OOC in the same season? Just comes across as poor management

Something like 50/60% of players were off contract last season, and only 20/30% off players actually moved clubs.
If SL is like this, then we are fishing in a small pond
SL is worst, there seems to be a lot more player movement in the NRL.
If we could pick up 2 NRL 9Or Uk based quota players) players to replacement Lovodua and Evans and a couple of younger Uk based players for Shaul and Houghton. I think we will have done Ok.
Youth is the only way we will be successful in the next few years, supplemented with good overseas players.

And when they finish we take them into the clubs off field staff. Talk of Houghton going into the coaching team next season and it wouldnt surprise me
