Lovodua is the difficult one. In the modern game, a player with his versatility is massive for the 17 but are we losing out on a top quota back rower for him. That the decision smith needs to make.

Taylor and Savelio are ones I’d consider keeping but i think pay cuts would be need (Taylor a big on). Savelio’s talent is unquestionable but his body breaks down far too much.

I’d like to see us promote from within a bit to show confidence in youth.

Litten takes shauls role
Balmforth takes houghtons (3rd choice)
Brown/Stavely/Laidlow for Taylor if he goes
Maybe even let Mitch go to blood Wacokecoke and Armstrong

Then we can look at recruiting some quality, my gut says we add Matty English and a backrower. Then it’s down to how successful our retention is.

Pretty much spot on for me, Lover for as good as a versatile player he is you need your quota players to be in a set position IMO. Agree on Tag give him a rolling year on less money and offer Savelio the same.

For me the jurys still out on Evans as up until now he hasn't shown anywhere near enough to warrnat a quota spot as there are players in the championship that would offer the same that we have seen from Evans so far without taking a quota spot or the hit on the cap.

Lovodua again for me is a good player but if we are not going to play him as a regular interchange 9 and we continue to play Houghton as well then I just don't see the point in again wasting a quota spot on Joey as its just a waste.

Right now we have 2 quota spots taken by players that spend more time on the sidelines/bench than they do on the field where it matters which is a huge waste of the quota.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Evans "There's a player in there" he's 31 not 17 :?

Lovodua is ok but not as good as I thought he'd be

Savelio has had injury problems at every club he's played for get rid ....Great player but hardly fit

Taylor if keeps up is our best prop imo even now

Can't put youth in for the sake of it they've gotta be good enough

A club and city our size our youth coming through last decade has been poor ( likes of fash, Lane, Brown, bowden are ok at best ) none have got close to a full international cap

And imo that's been our big problem the youngsters haven't been top class like Horne yeaman Cooke king

See how Longstaff goes tonight for Salford. His defence needed to improve but liked him when he was here

Savelio is a tricky one . If he stays fit ,He's on the team sheet and is a handful against any team . I'd see how he goes this season before committing to any contract extension .
With Balmforth coming though and possibly pushing for a starting spot next season , Lovodua is really wasting a quota spot as mentioned above .
Plenty of conundrums for Smith to ponder over as the club would have already started to target signings for next season .

Evans has moved across the world and has continued to improve, his average gain is decent, work rate high and offers an offload game which had a big impact on swifts try against Leeds. He’s never managed to find consistency since he’s come and has this season to prove he deserves to be at the club.

You don’t seem smart enough to understand Lovodua been on the bench allows us to carry 3 forwards and cover for injuries in the back. We’ve seen time and time again sides lose as they’ve had to slot a forward in centres or have any wasted interchange by carrying a back on bench.

Taylor has been decent this season after a few poor seasons but he shoots out line and misses so many tackles in a side that already struggles to D not exactly ideal is it.

You’re right about youth. Let’s forget about the salary cap and just sign lomax, Welsby, Williams and walmsley all to play back up because our youth might not be good enough to play regularly. They need time to develop and no side can be successful if they don’t trust their youth.

I’m also guessing you’ve never been to one of our reserves/academy games as our current batch of youth actually looks like one of our strengths

If he was a non quota player I'd be more lenient.

He's okay, but think we need more from him. If we replaced him with a Matty English we'd improve the squad and gain a quota spot.

Same with Joey. Had a good start to last season, but hasn't done a great deal since them.

I'd like us to sign two forwards for a start using overseas spots from Lovodua and Evans, I'd take Wade Campbell, despite his age thibk he is the type of player we need, add in a Wille Manu type player. Sign English too if available.

Hooker is a funny one, hopefully Balmforth will be ready and I think the club are looking for that with him getting some tough experience in the championship. Depends on if Dwyer stays, if not we need a hooker IMO.

I'd rather take a punt on Frizell than Graham. Pack needs some work. Think we need 2 SR and 1 poss 2 new props.

We should be after English or Trout from Hudds.

Agree on 9. Suppose it depends on how Balmforth goes at Newcastle.
