I agree Dave. Can see things happening at FC once a new lease is agreed. Not heard anything, just a feeling I have.

Can easily imagine AP being involved at some level at City, and the City owners getting involved with FC in some way. Would make sense if these plans come to fruition.

Think it’s “pie in the sky” and “false dawns” but that’s the FC sceptic in me. I’d love a smaller more intimate ground were fans can influence officials and players, in the nicest possible way, of course. Can you imagine the banter with Westerman if he was 6 feet away from the supporters  Nothing wrong with Costello, provided it was developed properly and the Council sold it to us for peanuts 8) but a new all covered15k stadium with a proportion of seating would be outstanding.

I think its good news that discussions are being held and sensible ones at that. AP being involved is also a big plus as it again shows the change in attitude since the departure of the Allams with what seems a genuine will and understanding between the two clubs and the Council.
I think another smaller stadium is a good idea but feel if Hull FC were to play out of there I think 12K would be too restrictive and something along the lines of 15K would be a more prudent/sensible capacity.
Think most would agree something needs to be done with the whole area surrounding the Stadium with some form of redevelopment to make better use of what is almost waste land in its current state.

As for Hull Fair its a long standing tradition that on the one hand does need to be protected though on the other the city needs to prosper and move forward as well. I think a redevelopment of this type could well be a very good asset to the City and help to draw in much needed income and from further than the Hull boundary. What is the value to the City in terms of income stream from the Fair and how much does it generate to the local economy in real terms?

A lot of food for thought though and a promising future ahead.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

AP has seemed a lot more positive and bullish of late. Some of that probably can be attributed to these plans, and the new relationship with the SMC.

Whatever happens, FC look to be an integral part of any plans going forward.

I seriously doubt they can build a 12k stadium of any decent quality within a £25m budget for the full site.

We need corporate facilities, HD floodlights for SKY and while I'm not someone who really uses the food and drink at the stadium, things have moved on from having just a shed of a stand and peeing up walls ala the Boulevard.

Better to keep playing at the main stadium and have a small 5k stadium for athletics and for City and FC's reserves and youth teams in my opinion.

If they get the land for free, then maybe, but that would probably eat up the whole budget, so wouldn't be able to develop anything else.

Just had a google and York's 8k stadium cost £44m, and that built just before the inflation madness. Think that included a swimming pool? and might have included land buying though.

Not sure what the reasoning is behind the possibility of including a 12K capacity stadium the development as if it were for Hull to play out rather than the KC sorry MKM it just seems a little too restrictive at 12K. If its for youth/reserve teams of both clubs along with other teams & sports within the community then surely 12K would be way too large.
If it were to include athletics and other such sporting disciplines what impact would that then have on Costello for instance?

Back to the MKM itself it is a stadium and facility that needs regular upkeep and to do this is needs using more and having both pro teams play out of it all year round will certainly help with the costs of maintaining which seems to have been something that was neglected by the SMC under the Allams which was raised by both rugby and football fans alike.

The 12k figure concerns me, as its suspiciously accuate for our average crowd levels...as you say it is too big for just reserve games. And as stated above id be concerned about us being shunted to a cheap design which doesnt have room for growth (Sundays crowd wouldent fit in there for example)

I mentioned athletics because than then could mean there may be scope for the Council to sell Costello for housing. Also having all sports on one site sharing costs, changing rooms etc may help the Councils costs.

Its Hull City in dreamland
I suggest they get a successful football team first and find a manager who doesnt love all the players as Rosenior does who can drag them out of the Championship.
From our point of view we have a great stadium and dont need a small 12,000 cap utility ground.
Why waste money when the MKM needs a lot of maintainance.
The area needs redevelopment and is ideal for Housing/Hotel as per Allam
In my opinion its a smokescreen because if the area is gifted to the club then bye bye most of the sports village and welcome investment and development of projects that make money
