Should be interesting as York will want to make up for us beating them last season. Think if Walker is out the Holmes has the fullback spot. It will be interesting to see if Dunning go3s for Flanagan jnr or Roby on the bench. Appo is en route now but I doubt he'll figure soon.

I’d start Roby and bring Flanagan Sr off the bench.

Think this will be the game where we see if attitudes really have changed. Remember last year? Great win against Dewsbury and then stank the place out against Sheffield.

Not "expecting" a win as York will want to bounce back and they're at home, so it will be difficult. But it's a winnable game.

Think this game is on Viaplay (formerly Premier Sports) too, so we're bound to lose!

I would keep Lilley as starting hooker and play Lawford in the halves with Patton. Obviously Holmes to full back.

That's what I would do. Lawford needs his chance.

To be fair he took his chance last year against York when they arguably had a stronger line up and did pretty well.

I'd agree and go with Holmes, Patton, Lawford and Lilley as the spine with GFJ off the bench.

If Lilley is partnered up with Patton again, I can see us losing. The combination just doesn't work and if Patton is going to stay in Dunning's plans, they need to find another half back solution.

Don't think i'm biased...

I think Dunning will go with Roby, who seems well thought of at the Giants. Lawford will get his chance.

I think the Patton/Lilley partnership will be better having a ball playing full back in Holmes. As much as I liked Kear, the play just died when it got to him. It was a great inside ball from Patton to Holmes for Gills second try. That wouldn't have happened last year.

I think the Patton/Lilley partnership was probably scuppered by a variety of factors last year:

1. Both players being unfit
2. The pack being unfit and often unable to create space for the halfbacks.
3. Lack of a ball playing fullback with any pace to link play.
4. Lack of any decent line running 2nd rows with Scott being injured and Wallace not being picked very often.
5. Lack of a consistent loose forward.
6. General malaise, poor attitude and sterile game plans.

Now I'm not a fan of Patton. He's still looking a bit rotund for my liking and the way he took his bat home last year and the gouging made me think he's not a player anyone would enjoy playing with. However, if the 6 points above are sorted then we might get a different player. Could be a forlorn hope and I would have Lawford primed and ready as soon as he or anyone else drops out of form.
