I find it curious (and this absolutely applies to Hull KR and their partners as well) that these dual-reg relationships never seem to hold for very long. I wonder if it reflects a inherent tension in the system or whether clubs feel it benefits them to change it up pretty frequently.

Maybe coaching changes at the clubs are a big factor? In the dual reg article it mentions that smith and gene have worked with Chris Throman before so it's someone they trust to use the dual reg players appropriately rather than chucking them in at the deep end or the move being of no benefit to the player?

We've never seemed to use dual reg that regularly even when Horne went to Doncaster.

Suppose it depends on what gaps Newcastle have in their squad, and what youngsters we have that are ready.

We, Hull KR, have three young players on loan with Newcastle this year too - Okoro, Moore and Potter. I think they’re cutting their cloth pretty dramatically after last year, and a smaller squad will likely provide more opportunities for dual reg players.
