In this week's League Express there is a letter I wrote about the mental health of players when they finish playing, referees when they finish refereeing and supporters as they grow old. My suggestion for any of them wanting to keep mentally healthy is to spend time writing a novel which is broadly based on their own life, one which can include tales from their own family history, employment, things they have personally done or know about and also their rugby league connections and involvement.
To help any rugby league enthusiast do this, in addition to having written six novels in a series that runs from 1962 to 2008, I have also written three pages of advice on how any fan could do something similar based on their own life. If you would like me to send them to you, E Mail me at
wgeofflee@gmail.com and ask for Geoff Lee's RL Writing Notes.
Some people might prefer to read one of my novels first or maybe buy one as a Christmas present. The one I would suggest is my latest which is titled "Three Good Years" and is available from London League Publications" Their website is
http://www.llpshop.co.uk . Press on Books and then Fiction. There are plenty other rugby league books there to see as well.
