Saying they've paid $250k for him. I think when you analyse the situation, it's a bit of a no brainer. Good solid player but he isn't irreplaceable and is on a wedge here. I'd expect Wigan will be doing a bit more business before the season starts as we've now lost Partington, Nicholson, McDonnell and Bateman. Frizell is a top shout.

That said, kids grow up and lose interest in mum and dad, so maybe there's something of that there.
I don't really blame him. He's not found his pre-Canberra form since his return and has certainly been nowhere near his actual Canberra form. Maybe he can rediscover it at Wests.
Hoping we get someone good to replace him. But if this is true, and he's gone for 2023, we'll need someone in now, not in 2024.
Looks increasingly like it is going to happen, so the interesting thing is now where do we look to replace him?
Secondrow we have Faz, KPP, Isa, Smithies and we have allowed a number of junior players to depart.
Upfront we have Ellis, Singleton, Havard, Byrne, Cooper and rumours that Mago is departing and Hill in the background.
We may have a quota spot available if Mago goes.
We will also have a marquee spot open.
I don’t see us going for a back.
I would think we would need to look to bring in a middle.
Pure speculation and again no inside info nor have I heard anything but the Thompson rumours are always there in the background.

Been back 2 years now and hasn’t hit the form in NRL or Wigan previous, despite being on superstar money.
If he’s keen to go back and that big transfer fee comes to us then no complaints.
Farrell and KPP is a nice back row combo with Isa as cover.
Then just need a replacement for 2024 probably a signing or (Shorrocks/Nsemba?).
NK makes a great point about Nicholson. He was inpatient but he would now have his chance.
Hopefully this hasn’t been factored in to French and Field staying so we can still recruit.
RICHARDS IS SUPERMAN!!!!

33 years old but still a top, top player (though I think he'd be spending a lot of time at Red Hall if he did come over)
Still, exactly the kind of prop our pack has needed for more years than I care to remember.
'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.' Shaun Wane's post-Grand Final speech. 5th October 2013.
It's all over the Aussie press this morning so something is clearly happening. Disappointed? No im not really. His huge wage can be used elsewhere and i would say the club are probably relieved as he has 3 years left on it. He has been one of the better players to come back but ultimately not a patch on what he was. Tyson Frizzell is a great shout. He is seemingly unwanted by Newcastle and most NRL clubs have already got their signings in place. Frizzell would go great over here and is a power pack second rower. His Origin days are over so i would be delighted to get that one in. It would make sense to the Mago rumours and would seemingly accelerate Hill and Nsemba's progress into the first team. I still want Royce Hunt from Cronulla but thats 2 cap spaces so i will have to keep dreaming on that one

I love JWH and the way he plays….but I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole and I don’t think he is the type of Prop we need anymore, although I agree 2-3 years ago he would have been perfect.
As good as he is he simply spends too much time banned or giving away silly penalties.
I don’t think he falls into the new culture at Wigan.

KPP will slot in nicely for 2023 partnering Farrell. Obviously wil need another replacement in 2024, we have a number of good lads coming through. Nsemba looked frightening in the reserves last year at times.

That is why I think we need to go with a middle who can play prop or 13 especially if Mago goes.
If Bateman which seems likely and Mago do go we will have another decent chunk of money to play with.
