if we are up to the cap now with so many first teamers having left we have A- been seriously mismanaged and B- we must have been miles over the cap in february

We gave Walker a five year contract in 2018 and his market value has now decreased to the point where other clubs don't even view him as a viable loan option. That was bad cap management (also bad luck). We signed Zak for the rest of the season, at a point where other deals (maybe still to be announced) had already been agreed. Zak could have easily imploded, and if history is any guide, might well still do so. The plan looks to have been to offload Walker in order to keep him, which was sound enough, but did carry an element of risk. That risk has now been realised and we are obviously scrambling to keep him. Let's just hope GH has some cards up his sleeve.
In general I agree with you, my point would be Zak signed in April and you can’t even talk to players of other clubs until May. I suspect the two sticking points are Walker and taking the full cost of Fusitua’s wage.
It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

Nene has been a standout in their season TBF.
Early season he was practically unplayable and was easily the best player they had. As the season went on and they added more & more quality with Ipape, Ferguson etc he kind of became a little overshadowed by them as they started getting the plaudits while he just got on with it.
