I remember him well. I think he was briefly touted as the next Billy Boston, probably by somebody who was very drunk at the time. Sad to hear he is gone.

This is really sad news, I used to love the Alliance team games and the characters that watched them as well as played in them during the 80's. Norman was a real star of that team for me, far too laid back to fulfil his undoubted physical potential but an absolute hero to a teenager who loved watching rugby with his dad at the time.

RIP "Stormin" Norman Francis.

Very Different era those days. A team rugby was a mixed bag, players pike Norman who could come in and play 8-10 games, players upcoming learning their trade, and those who were never good enough just good amateurs happy to make a few quid. I knew a few of those.
