No new fan was ever going to be attracted to BV as it was. The days where you could get people turning up purely because you were winning are long gone. Sure it keeps the existing fans happy, but a modern family of four was never going to come back to BV again after seeing the facilities even if we'd just beaten Saints 100 to nil. No kid was ever going to drive past the old BV and say to his dad, can we go to a game. Far more likely to now, image means a lot, especially these days.

Sponsors and corporate even more so. It amazes me how well we do in that regard as it is but it can't be easy. What sort of serious businessman or investor was ever going to be impressed as they pulled into the car park and faced the old East stand and by way of a further slap down got a puncture.

New fans want a bit of luxury, bars, good toilets, food etc. The prawn sandwich brigade want even more. They don't care about the viewing angles on the West terrace. They just want their guests to be razzle dazzled by the match day experience, for that they will pay top dollar.

We can sort the rest of BV out in the years to come but the East stand gives the club a focal point, a real presence and at last an element of modest grandeur. Everything we have been lacking for forty years.

Agree with a lot of that. We have to simply move with the times.

There are a number of things that can be done alongside this development (albeit cosmetic) that can probably make the stadium look a touch better.

The barriers are getting repainted or replaced on the northstand. Surely we could get the right paint and re-paint refresh the west stand barriers at a small cost. Just a small example really. Repaint the boxes on west stand or bolt on a large trinity logo board onto them.

I remember years ago we had a little stand/stage that was moveable and we had a few local bands/ even chico (lol) before matches.

With the match day experience part of focus for licensing maybe we should look for local bands or singers or performances to run up to kick off. Maybe something to consider with the opening of the new east stand.

One things for certain. We can’t stand still and we have 2023/2024 to improve the marketing and game day experience.

I think we are very good on being a financially stable club, we are well run, the youth and reserve teams are of a very good standard. There’s alot of positives but it’s clear this licensing/img and RFL are going to push for continual improvement from clubs like ours.

Top six 2005 - Trinity.

Very difficult to say I’m sure, but would you say east stand done within 5 years? Depends on lots of factors obvs

Do you mean West stand, the East should be finished well before that. :)

Would be happy to help out with that - take me back to my apprentice days as a painter! :)

Funny you should all be saying that you'd help out.

That was one of the things I discussed with JM. Not giving too much away but we are looking at ways we can use volunteers. It's definitely been a failing in recent years, that people don't know how to go about helping, in a none monetary way. The idea we are looking at is both simple and elegant but like all things it takes time and the Directors have a lot on their plates at the moment.

It is worth pointing out that the rules regarding volunteer labour have changed in recent years. Insurance is now an issue, and HMRC are very picky as what counts as volunteer work and what counts as not paying tax, as they view Trinity as a business not a charity, so some things are no longer deemed acceptable. So we need to look into it, or I do.

As for improving the look of things that again was discussed. I suggested this for the North stand using banners and graphics as a cheap way to improve the look of the place. Same can be done around the ground especially if people want to pay advertise.

Now I don't want to jump the gun as this has not been finalised in any way or accepted, but the idea I had was liked, so we are all thinking on similar lines.

Yes good point Vasty, something defintely needs to be behind the new terracing to give it that finished look.

Any way, I have just seen a picture of the pitch on twiter taken from the flats. It looks like all the temporary seating has gone. Is it comming back do you know.

Yes it is. It’s rented by the month so we don’t need it now.

They went originally going to keep the seats once the east stand was ready. But depending on cost it might stay in a truncated form as perhaps some kind of family friendly zone with the the bar changed to a family room with coffee Barr and kids stuff. Just an idea not set in stone. There are plenty of ideas as to how to use the old club house and flats but again I think I’m ok in saying that at some point the club will ask the fans for further suggestions. When that will be I don’t know.

People have to accept that it will all take time. Apart from running a RL team we need to get the East and North stand up and running first. Then we can do other smaller or more cosmetic stuff. When the main stand opens it won’t all be spot on, it will take a while to get it fully sorted.

So I’d suggest that all the other things will probably take place in the off season 2023 - 2024.

Hope that helps.

Went do to BV at lunchtime today for the Lunch, had a good look at the pitch and all the covers removed showing a very green growth. There was a couple of workers on the scaffolding in the North West corner (the big screen I think) very busy around the main building site with lots of holes and trenches being excavated also in the car park, meaning today’s lunch visitors had to park at the far end of car park along side Doncaster Road. From the smaller cats bar room it’s was difficult to see how things are progressing on the main site, but there is a lot going on and involving some heavy plant.

What is it, five weeks since they ripped the old pitch out?

Very efficient, bodes well for the pitch itself, a brave new world.
