Hull under Tony Smith look a good dark horse at 14/1, but you can't really get away from that 9/4 for Saints. Only thing likely to stop them is if Woolf's replacement unsettles things too much.

Wont Tony Smith need 2 seasons to upturn the dressing room, change culture and to "build his side" before they can dream of making the playoffs?

I thought Salford would have been at shorter odds than 25-1. They were mightily impressive at the back end of the season, and if Croft had been available for the semi-final I would have fancied them to beat Saints.

No chance. They are losing players at the moment and there's talk of Croft getting out this year never mind next. I'd be very surprised if they're as good next season as they were at the end of this.

I'm unconvinced about that as well. That performance against Leeds was one of the worst by any team in Super League all season. They simply had nothing other than 'chuck it to Bevan and Jai'. Field had a pretty poor last couple of months, very much felt like teams had worked out how to handle him. Still dangerous in broken play and when teams clocked off, but pretty easy to remove from the game as Leeds showed. They could come into the picture if they let Bateman go and bring someone in to improve their pack. A lad at work who supports them is adamant they've got Luke Thompson and Wardle signed and sealed with Bateman departing. That would make them worth backing.
