There are two sides to the King argument imo & both have merits.
On the one side, the club have seen something they like with the King deal. After the season we've just had, then there's plenty of reasons to back the decision if he's above Halsall. If say Lam was making this call, I'd be less likely to agree. He's not tho, so in Peet we trust. He sees more of this than we do.
The other side is that King isn't some left field, unknown signing like Ellis, Field or Cust i.e they type of signing that starts with credit in the bank. We've all seen him play vs us. We've seen him on TV for Wire and for Hudds and he's, quite frankly, not been that great. You can't just forget what you've seen and, whilst I do want him to succeed, you can't disagree that there's question marks there.
A lot of the times on here you get accused of making decisions on signings with "the benefit of hindsight". I'll happily say that I like Halsall and that i think he'll be a better player than King. If he leaves, then the we'll regret it. In 3 or 4 years, we'll be asking how we let it happened, especially when there are such limited players getting in before him. Likewise, I'm saying the same now about McDonnell & Nicholson. We'll look back in 5 years and wonder how Partington and Isa got time over these two.
