Craig Harrison reckons Smith will have his 'hit list' of players to get rid of this off season. Think it could be an interesting off season
I watched this last night. Just to mention that they said Smith won 14 of 42 games at Rovers, presumably based on his Wikipedia entry. I’ve seen it on social media a couple of times too. However, those numbers are incorrect. We played 37 SL games in his two full (well, as full as the pandemic allowed) seasons, with 13 wins, plus a win and a loss in the play-offs and whatever happened in the cup. I CBA to check 2019, as I can’t recall if we briefly had an interim coach after Sheens, but Smith won 9 of 20 in SL and the cup before being stood down in 2022. Anyway, Rovers played and won more under him than wiki says, and his win ratio will be better than .333 with us.
Despite my slight obsessiveness with details like that, I have enjoyed watching a few of the SMTM podcasts. Some interesting discussion on the IMG stuff with rumoured criteria for a place in the expected 2 x 10 format seeming to shift over recent months from entirely on field to mostly about infrastructure and ‘contribution to the sport’. Interesting to see, more broadly, Craig and Joe reflecting the different perspectives of SL and Champ clubs, e.g. about how willing or eager champ clubs should be to give fringe SL youngsters a chance on loan.
