From the RFL Following the publication of National Mourning Guidance, and consultation with Government, other sports and Rugby League stakeholders including clubs, the RFL can confirm that fixtures at all levels will go ahead this weekend..
Thank god we have an alternative to Nicholas Witchell .
Got to be a cracking appointment, you look at his record of reviving clubs fortunes,,i was sorry he left us,but happy with what weve got.Danny signing for at least 3yrs with us and then proving he has great potential as a future head coach if willie peters fails.

I know everyone has their own opinion, but when Jake was an out and out centre, he excelled against the Kiwis for England and when appearing for us, regularly set up some spectacular tries for his winger or the supporting full back with a dummy and an inside pass. a game against Cas sticks out or an example of this, but I don't remember the date. I don't think he actually is a natural six, that position is too structured for him, so its fullback or centre for me. If his lack of pace when defending breaks is the concern about him playing there, maybe swap him for the winger when we are defending but revert to a roaming full back when attacking ? I am not too sure he'll even be with us next year. If he has signalled his intention to leave when his contract expires, we may test the water to see if there would be any takers, for a fee, but given that he has only 12 months left on his current deal, nobody will pay anything like his true worth, they'll just sit and wait it out. Alternatively, TS may transform us into an elite SL force. Then I woke up and fell of my camel.
For me regarding Jake he has proved whilst in the FB role he can be a devastating attacking threat but defensively can be a bit suspect however putting things in to a little more context how many times was our defensive line breached and all too easily and in a lot of cases leaving Connor exposed, way too many. There's no doubt he could have done better with some of the attempts he made admittedly but I think where ever he is played he needs to be given a free roaming role, time will tell where he plays or if he even plays for us next season. One thing I think is certain is there will definitely be some big changes made between now and the start of next season, with the players no longer having anyone else to hide behind for their failure to perform.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

cant see Connor at full back next season Chris The game is changing with most teams having a fast elusive full back who not only can break the line but also get up to assist other players line breaks. Even in the short time Walker was here we saw glimpses of that. I have the opinion if we could get a good fee for him it would help the clubs progress in recruitment for the new coach however if he stays centre has to be his position but would have to stand in at six until Trueman is up to speed. We can cover for the loss of Connor but what we cant cover for is how weak we are at the moment in size and power in the second row and possibly front row as Taylor no matter whether he is a local player is finished as a top front row

From what I’m led to believe Jake is buying a house in Hull so he’s not going anywhere but then who knows what might happen with the arrival of a new coach.
Hopefully Smith can help bring out the best in him and finally help sort out his attitude. Will be interesting to see where he starts next season as can see Hoy starting at full back so maybe in the halves if Trueman isn’t ready but like you I like him at centre so if Carlos isn’t fit then could start at centre.

Out of interest who you putting in the spine if Jake is at centre?
If Conner stays and I'll be honest I'm not fussed if he does or he doesn't, then the new regime must get him fit, fitter than he's ever been. In my opinion he isn't and hasn't been for some time, he's got by on natural talent mostly. He comes across as a lazy trainer to me and it reflects in his attitude. He's not alone but he really needs to buck up if he stays.

Maybe a new 7. Again, I was led believe the club want a new back rower and a 7 but I got told this before the Hodgson sacking so who now knows with a new coach coming in?
