I have no idea how much cap space we have however I do know that there are several areas we need to look at before we look for a new starting half, namely centre.
TL retiring wasn’t an announcement that will have shocked the club, they will have know about this for months and will have taken that into account when making offers to incoming players and contract upgrades.
The priority at the moment is clearly finding a resolution to the French situation and the centre position. We have 1 centre confirmed, we still need another.
If we could upgrade contracts, retain French, confirm another centre AND then have enough cap space left to sign Croft I’d be onboard but I really don’t think that is realistic.
By the way, I didn't say we should sign Croft. I said we should be interested in him as we should any quality player.

Maybe Bateman going back to Australia could be part of the silence? As I say pure speculation on my part but I'm quite sure that a number of deals (in and out) have yet to be announced.

The pull would be if his Australian partner wants to go home and give her family the chance to see the baby grow up. At some point I can see him doing another couple of years over there but probably not yet.

I think the smart money would be on the rumour that a family member of French is awaiting approval to move to the UK. Maybe Wigan are confident of it going through but nothing can be confirmed until it is.
