As Paul Cooke said, Rovers' season has unquestionably been a failure. Easier to write silly stuff about FC than face that rather uncomfortable truth.

So it looks like "The ex Hull FC player" was actually correct with the information that he told me back in June.
This would also indicate that this coaching change was actually sorted out quite a while ago too.
I personally think that he'll do a great job for Hull FC just as long as Adam Pearson can let him run the side his way and not interfere as Tony Smith simply doesn't stand for any of that.

Tony Smith certainly did a great job at Warrington and in reality we should have landed at least a couple of GF wins during his tenure.
He will be a good fit at Hull

Obviously having to pay off Reynolds in June was the last straw for Pearson

Would you guys agree that this coaching change was arranged many months ago and whilst Hodgson was still in charge?

Possibly. Think he was going to be DOR, until Hodgson got the chop

I really can't see that being the case. Hodgson was talking about the plans for next season right up until the derby.

I honestly believe if we had won the derby or at the very least lost with some dignity, he'd still be coach.

Pearson quite rightly had had enough and decided to act.

In a strange way defeat on Saturday or the manner of the defeat was the best outcome for the future of the club.

I was categorically told by the ex Hull FC player that Tony Smith would be the head coach of Hull FC and that he would be replacing Brett Hodgson way back in June?
Surely too much of a coincidence?

Ex-Hull players covers a wide range of credibility. If it is a club stalwart like Richard Horne or Kirk Yeaman, then I’d be more ready to believe than if it was Jason Crookes or Danny Niklas.
