Smith's press conference was excellent on the disciplinary issue. Can't disagree with anything he said. Basically they are being way too hard on players in terms of bans, and they are charging players for what are clearly accidental incidents which occur simply because players have to make contact to tackle opponents. He also mentioned the impact on fans in terms of everyone wanting the best players available and made some interesting points about the fact that clubs don't appear in person, which makes it difficult to make sure everyone is seeing the same evidence.
He certainly went on about it at length and it sounds as though there may be movements afoot in the off season.

Hmmm, that's not a ban either. Could argue it's slightly late and worthy of a penalty but he's committed before the ball is released IMO (from a bit of youtube slowing down) and contact is to the chest (maybe riding up a bit). The Martin one is direct contact to the head so it is different, albeit not worthy of missing a play-off game as I've already said.
Of the two, Martin's is closer to a ban-worthy tackle IMO.
