Part of me would like Shaun Wane to go and have a crack at the Hull job. The comp needs a strong Hull and Wane's too good of a coach to be sat in the background for me. I've no doubt he's been a big part of our resurgence this year but speaking purely as an RL fan it would be good to see him go over there and turn it around.

I'll say this - a lot of our plans are hinging on the outcome of what French decides to do. Not only is he arguably our best player but his, plus Field's, ability to cover a couple of positions to a high standard has been massive for us - especially when we've had two HB's out this year for large portions of the season. That ability is rare however.
With Tommy retiring, you'd expect Field to be the backup HB for next year. That's great & he's proven he can do it. It was certainly easier however as French just went to 1 and we didn't lose much. Can we be as confident if it was say Hanley stepping in at 1? Or Astley going in at HB?
For me, the sensible option would be to bring in some cover at HB instead. Someone who isn't going to start, but is good enough to put some pressure on Cust and Smith & can slot in for injuries.

Could having O’Neill in to play 9 and Powell to play in the halves be an option?
