If the rumours are true I find it very confusing that presumably Brett has been the one instigating release and recruitment decisions when he may not be here and a new coach will have his own ideas. Up until recently the club were adamant that he would be here next year sureley if the club want rid that decision would/should have been made some time ago. I believe if another coach has been lined up he may have had some say in recruitment. Any new coach should have total say in all areas of coaching/backup staff to bring in his own people. Also its imperetive that we employ a DOR because a Head Coach cannot do everything and Pearson/Clarke dont have the relevant skills. One possibility could be Dennis Betts who is leaving Newcastle at season end, One way or another things need to change. The club is in the biggest mess from top to bottom in my 50 odd years as a supporter

Or so the story goes

I'd have Smith as Head coach for next year, one of his jobs would be to help identify our next head coach with him moving up to DOR the year after.

I suspect Pearson planned to keep Hodgson for next year, but with performance and the fans reaction, I don't think he has a choice but to make some kind of change to the coaching setup.

If what I've been told is true. He'll be on a rolling 12 month deal. After 2/3 seasons he'll move upstairs and appoint his successor.

Rolling 12 month contract suits both parties

I'd take that, his won record is very good overall, tool Rovets to their first play off and CC semi in years.

I don't think he is the best at bringing young players through, which is a key area for us over the next couple of years, so hopefully he will a people around him to encourage him to bring those players through.

Hopefully bin Purtill off and bring in his assistant or promote Shenton.

He wanted more involvement in the club, Lakin told him to concentrate on the team. The two of them kept butting heads.

Any disagreement with a CEO only ends one way. That is if the CEO is doing his job properly.

This is my take on it too, I also don't think Hodgson choosing next year's signings is a massive problem...most of the players we have signed are versatile utility players it's not like he's picked some unusual signings with skills a new coach won't needed. I'd imagine any potential coach would have signed Dwyer given the chance too. There's also months to go til the new season, Hodgson himself didn't arrive til Nov/Dec the other year.

Yes, versatile utility players but decidedly average with the possible exception of Hoy.

Davidson must think their is something in it.

Might have the same source, but he's not often wrong

Doubt that very much. Dwyer cannot be compared with either of our two hookers. Yes he can scoot from the play the ball but so can Parcell and Litten. In all other aspects of the role he comes a miserable third.
