If any of these tales about players are true then maybe we should back the coach for once rather than letting the players force another one out. Hodgson hasn't set the world alight though so no easy answers to this mess. The only certain thing is if we do ditch Hodgson then next coaching appointment really is make or break.

If any of the tales about the players are true then any player found guilty of insubordination etc should have their contracts terminated for misconduct as they are clearly not here for the good of the club.
As for Hodgson unfortunately he has proved he hasn't got the authority in him nor the presence to stamp his mark to lead a group of professional players as a Head Coach so regardless of the players, backing him any further for me just delays the inevitable. We need a Coach that can instil discipline within the group as a whole but also at individual level. It seems training is run more like coffee mornings and certain bad apples run things as opposed to the having the law laid down as to what is expected and what is not tolerated, Hodgson is just far too soft and nice. I also believe that Purtill should follow Hodgson out the door as his assistant and righthand man he has also failed for the same reasons. Ellis I would give some benefit too as he is not an experienced coach and due to the poor leadership from above he will have found it difficult as I have no doubt if he didn't agree with Hodgson he would say so but respect the Head Coaches decisions and do as asked as he is a true pro.
Our recruitment in all fairness when you look at it has been and is still pretty poor and we are now back to the days when we had very little in the way of genuine quality across the pitch just a team of average players and too many utility players. When AP is spending up to the salary cap and you look at the squad even for next season you really have to ask where is that money being spent.
The likes of Taylor, Griffin and Houghton should have been moved on as not doing so will likely cost the club and Pearson an awful lot more than not doing so.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
I'm not too invested either way, personally. If he goes then fair enough, thanks for your efforts Brett. If he stays then I'm curious to see what he could do with a squad that was motivated and largely uninjured. Feels a long time ago but we did look a reasonable side earlier in the season. For all the talk of us not having a style, it must be difficult to develop one when the personnel is different every week in key positions, which I know is partly down to some iffy recruitment in the halves. Recruitment does look better next year in fairness although 2nd row is a glaring weakness atm and I think we do need more pace down the wing.
I agree Taylor needs to go, waste of a prop atm. It sounds like Houghton will be on a reduced role next year at least. Griffin is an odd one, gone from form of his life to passenger. Hopefully a full off season might see some return to form if he is still here.
I just want to see better rugby however that comes about.

I'd have Smith as the DOR, a link between the coach and Pearson, take some decisions away from Clarke. We also have a coach to step in if we don't start well next year. Worked pretty well at Wigan this year.

Think that was the plan Dave, but with BH going sounds like Smith will be the head coach.
