Pearson told a Sponsor after the Toulouse game that Smith wouldn’t be coming to the club. However who now knows what may happen after yesterday.

Either everyone is wrong, making it up or some news is leaking out somewhere.

Think its 2 + 2 = 5.

Smith is available and wants to coach again. He does like a project

Didn't he fall out with Lakin though due to wanting too much control?

TS is no doubt a great man manager, history shows that, but something went wrong for him at Rovers, I watched the CC semi at Elland Road and I knew during the warm up we weren't at the races, that was the first sign things werent right, he's reluctant to give youngsters a chance, or that's how he came across at Rovers anyway. And his love of unstructured rugby was great, the times we won, but hair pulling other games.

If you sign him he'll no doubt improve you but it won't be overnight.

The point I was making is that pretty recently AP was making supportive noises about Hodgson so to pull the trigger now looks like an emotional response to a result rather than delivering a measured and strategic succession plan. Your last point is supportive I think of what I've proposed, namely that we need some transparent comms recognising these shortcomings.

I don't constantly bang on about the financial state of the club and portray them in a negative light as you do.
I don't know the financial details of the club but we must face the same concerns as other clubs like Cas, Wakey, Rovers and Salford to name a few, was the point I was making.

I accept BH will be here next season but if he was to be replaced yesterday wouldn't have been the deciding factor but merely more supportive evidence of the quality of coaching and playing staff.

Quite a few people saying he’s gone.

Still think he’s more of an ideas/pathways/admin guy rather than a head coach

Whoever is next, it can’t be an Assistant. Rohan Smith at Leeds has done very well, but he was a head coach of a reserve grade team, which is a good level.

I’d go for Tony Smith. Just think he’s the type to come into a club and give it an immediate lift.

He certainly has the respect of players something definitely missing now at the club.
Smiths style of R/L would also be a refreshing change.
The club is in such a mess now that even for Tony Smith it would take time.
Maybe if Smith came in we should look at one or two of the more unknown coaches in the lower divisions as an assistant like Gorley at Whitehaven who is doing a good job with very limited funds.

Fingers crossed, it'd be unusual for the club to make a decision like that on a Sunday but I suppose depends if he's walking or he's been pushed.

The difference with our finances is we rely on Pass and Shirt sales more than other clubs as we don't get bar takings and only get a % of the hospitality. Aside from the Derby we also don't sell many tickets by match. Wakefield are almost a complete opposite, they sell more tickets by match (their crowds go down when it rains!) but they get a decent income from the bars.

Sadly for Pearson the cost of living crisis, a surge in interest in Hull City and the fans fedup after 5 years of below par performances and big name players not coming over from the NRL anymore (the Hetheringtons used to sign us a big name to cheer us up and get the tills ringing) are all coming at once. Changing manager is one of the few cards he has to play.

The only good financial news will be apart from the shops I bet the club doesn't have a big electric bill to pay!
