If French doesn’t stay we’re definitely going to be in need of somebody to cover fullback, halfback or somebody who can cover both.

I stress again this is total speculation and I could be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 58. With TL retiring that leaves us with very little cover in the halves if we get an injury. If he get an injury the choice of who steps forward is obviously Field. If Field steps forward we literally have no cover at fullback. Could TL retiring indicate French has decided to stay?! Pure speculation and grasping at straws but it would kind of add up…at least in my head anyway!
No the two aren't linked unfortunately - Tommy's decision was made months ago.

I have this sneaky feeling that the club are going to announce a couple of blinders in the near future.

I hope so, but I really don't see any linkage between Tommy retiring and French.

However, obviously I look forward to welcoming Ryan Papenhuyzen to the club!

If we could keep French and bring in Wardle and call that our business, I think we could be extremely pleased. French can cover fullback and allow Field to cover the halves and Brad O’Neill covers Powell. I’m pessimistic about French staying but that scenario would be fantastic. Cooper has really helped strengthen the pack and King/Wardle would go a long way to solving our centre problems.

Hope not, it's taken me about 15 years to spell Leuluai correctly.

Is that based off something you've heard?
