well if you were at the Saints game as an example the attendance was listed as over 10000.In my opinion there was nowhere near 10000 so i also dont know why they manipulate the attendance.
1000 free tickets to kids for the derby might fill a few places but it doesnt bring in much needed revenue

Crowd numbers are quite hard to judge by eye so I'm not sure I buy this fake crowd numbers thing.

There's a few chances for revenue off the back of giving away free tickets.
If they're to kids who's parents aren't members, then it forces their parents to buy a ticket if they want to take them.
Hopefully a lot of those kids will ask for a bit of merchandise whole they're there, a shirt or shorts maybe.
I'm not sure how much money we actually get from food/drink sales but hopefully all the kids are asking for fizzy drinks and hot dogs.
And then the main hope is they enjoy the game so much they ask their parents for season passes next year.

Granted if not of that happens you are absolutely right and it brings in no revenue, but if the seats are gonna be empty anyway and there is potential for the above to happen then its worth it.

I'm bringing my mate and his family. It'll be their first derby.

First game I brought them to this season was Leeds at home. What could go wrong....

If we don't get the result I'll put them down as a bad omen and never invite them again

Missed that one as I was enjoying a well earned holiday. 8)

I don't think Hull or the SMC manipulate the attendance figure. What's the point? It's hard to count or even estimate the attendance when you are there unless you stand in the middle of the pitch, ask everyone to sit still and are able to count to 10,000.

That said with 16 missing for us it would be unthinkable for them not to win back the bragging rights at the weekend. The big red machine and international winger are ready to wreak havoc. Pray for us.

As you and your alter egos know, whoever loses will put it down to two poor teams.

I dont think they out and out lie but they count passholders who don't turn up and there seems to have been more missing games in our block as its just not 'must see' stuff at the moment, there are then these mysterious tickets the SMC have to buy from us which I assume we class as a sale. Then there are all the kids parading flags, stewards etc which accounts for a few more who in the ground but not actually in the seats

More also sit in the West stand than when it first opened which maybe alters perceptions of how busy it is compared to years ago when it was all about the East stand.

I can remember people saying they announced attendances that were too low. ("No way was there only 11,000 there. It was definitely more like 14,000...")

I’m all for sending out a strong message to protect refs. I feel a bit sorry for Sims but I’ve no problem with the ban in of itself. 3 games is maybe a bit harsh but given he’s retiring after 1, I guess it doesn’t matter. However, given that Logan Astley wasn’t charged for doing the same thing less than half a second earlier, the message is instead one rule for some clubs and another for the rest.

They don’t make it easy to enjoy, do they?
