Bit difficult as Pryce has signed for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL for the 2023 season.

pryce has signed for Newcastle for 2024. He’s contracted to us for 2023.

I love how people say “we will take him” of Murphy like it’s that simple.
If he’s any sense he will spend the final year of his contract at wakey whilst he shows SL he’s not a one season wonder, then go to the highest bidder with the best prospects of winning silverware.
One thing is for sure- He won’t be at wakey in 2024- wakey fans are blind to it though-I got banned from their board for pointing out the bleeding obvious, he’s a lad with talent, who isn’t from Wakefield so has no allegiance to Wakefield, he doesn’t want to be playing for a bottom side- no player does. for some reason it really upset them

Leutele to Leigh does seem bizarre at first. But since he was amongst the many players robbed by the Wolfpack's demise. It's easy to understand, that at 32, he's motivated by an attractive and secure contract. For any club to offer their best player a new contract inferior to the current one seems folly in itself. But then again, I do recall we have form in this area.

Perhaps but on balance reducing the salary of an ageing player, who has had a few injuries, in a salary capped sport may well be necessary. If it means we can offer a bit more to the likes of hewitt, Wilson, sign rushton keeping them as future giants then I can accept this. It’s forward thinking.

I’m thinking wardle has already signed for wigan…… for 2024. That would explain the king to wigan as a stopgap for 12 months, and the reason any agreement with wire over wardle going forward has broken down. We were wanting something permanent regarding king as payment for wardle and wire had already loaned king out to wigan so we then said they couldn’t have wardle.
Lads not having much luck. Wonder how many mirrors he’s smashed?

Fair point regarding the youngsters and the money Leigh have thrown his way may be unmatchable. But for a player, like Ricki, who struck fear into every Super League defence, I think a real effort should have been made to keep him.
But hey ho, bring on Bibby & Livett, it's all about opinions.
The main thing just now though, is not to have another 2013 fizzle out / meltdown and leave us all feeling flat at the end of what has been a great season.

Offering lower contracts to an ageing star is something clubs who have won lots of trophies can afford to do, not ones looking to win their first for 70 years. We should have paid what was necessary to keep Leutele. We will not keep hold of our younger players if the rise under Watson does not come to fruition, good players want to win things, we need a trophy in the next year or so to keep the bubble from bursting. I am a pessimist by nature and that side of me knows deep down that the CC this year was the chance and we probably wont get another for a good while, but got to have some hope :P

What are we trying to do though - end up winning one trophy or being in a position to do so over many years. We dont want to end up like wire - winning a CC by paying out big money and having no future - look where they are right now!!!!

Wire has just been down to bad management getting the wrong kind of players in on big money (Widdop prime example), they kicked on after their CC win against us and won more CC's and nrly a grand final, we disappeared to relegation fodder. To the victor the spoils, we MUST win something in the next couple of years to break our hoodoo and establish us as a top side. We are the only side that has spent big that has won nothing in the superleague era, Hull, Warrington and Catalan have all managed it. Winning isn't everything, just 95% of it. We KNOW leutele is quality and that he has performed for us, it's not like spending big on someone who may or may not come off, was a no brainer to keep him whatever it took.
