Unless we can add a really powerful second row and possibly another front row to replace Taylor who is becoming an embarrassment this team will struggle next season. I have no faith in this coach and i dont believe Pearson does either, but he has made the decision to run with him for economy reasons as he knows next seasons passholders and gates will be hugely down on numbers and if as i expect licensing comes in for 2024 then relegation will not be a threat
I dont agree, Pearson isnt daft enough to expect the club to serve up another year of dross and still have people wanting to buy passes for 2024. He will know deep down that we wont have the squad to challenge for the top spots next year, but he will be expecting a return to the top6.
I also think he has faith in Hodgson, even though I pesonally don't. I agree need more fire power in the forwards of we face another mixed year.

Not sold on Dwyer signing but give him the benefit of at least having something about him in wanting to spark things off when he comes on.
The extension of Houghton for another year is just a crazy situation to be in if it was in Houghtons hands to trigger the deal. Talk about no control on retention by the club. For me Houghton as good a servant he was should have gone end of this season. It’s disappointing he’s decided to go round again when he offers very little now. In a sport with s small cap having Dwyer, Lovodua, Balmforth and Houghton is a total waste and yet more imbalance in the squad when we have very weak/lightweight looking SR options for next season.
Really don’t see much changing for next season when the likes of Houghton, Taylor, Shaul & Gale should be moved on.
Letting a player who has been pretty poor for the last couple of seasons snd openly admitted he’d lost the love for the game to be able to reward himself with an extension shows why the club under AP and JC is in a mess
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Well look at it this way.Unless there is an exciting signing or two coming in which i doubt then pass sales and gate receipts will be well down in fact i will say HKR will have more passholders than we will have for 2023. Then you look at all the players off contract for 2024 and the ability to bring in some big names for 2024 then thats the way to rebuild the squad again hopefully under another coach and create some excitement for fans to re purchase passes. Hope i am wrong but about Pearson writing off next season but it fits with what is happening now at the club

Doubt it, anyway clubs don't tend to publish those figures. In terms of seasonal average attendances ours hasn't been lower than Rovers since 1977-78.

Can’t be arsed to reset the drivel on here, great signing Dwyer has to spell 50/50 with Houghton(not his fault evert coach runs him into the ground) don’t get the Joey love in waste of a quota for me, can only see him at 13 which I don’t think he is. As for Danny his contract will be hardly nothing on the cap as 50k Hull don’t pay as he’s had testimonial with the club, so if he on 60k we are paying 10k. So don’t get the bitching. Balmforth will get game time next season. Hodgson will get next season if we fail again he will be gone.

Wouldn't have kept Houghton, but most of his salary will be off cap, he is fit and rarely injured, if he can be spelled properly, then that should allow he to run more like he use too.
Dwyer I thought we needed his type of player and he has been very good since Smith took over, nit sure he is as good as some fans are making out, but a one year deal makes sense, see how he goes.
Lovodua is a strange one, but if as rumored he is on a small wage, he is worth having in the squad, one year deal and if he performs he will earn a better deal.
Think if Trueman is out we may see Lovodua at 6, with Houghton and Dwyer as hookers, then hopefully a transition of Lovodua and Dywer, with Balmforth playing the odd game, ready to be part of the 17 in 2024.

Just don’t understand the club if this is true. The club obviously saw something in him as a hooker to sign him. Just take a look on his highlights on FC live when he was announced. Looks excellent at 9. Remember the Cas away game back at the start of the season when he came off the bench (late in the game as usual) to play 9. Made such a difference. If the club don’t rate him as a 9 and even though he is on a low wage then as others have said, it seems a waste of a quota spot which could be used to strengthen other areas.
