I’m not painting Saints as the villains but my god, they’ve loved a moan this season. They’re even moaning in advance of a problem becoming reality now.

Ultimately I’d have thought their supporters wouldn’t find a days rest an issue. We hear enough confidence noises from them, enough claims of how much better they are than the rest, that I really wouldn’t think they’d bat an eyelid. Let’s be real, they’re seeing an opportunity to throw the old ‘you don’t own your own stadium line out’ and that’s fine. History proves the days rest does not matter. Sky will pick which game they want to show regardless.

Was going to write something similar but couldnt be bothered as soon as I saw the original post.

As you also said earlier

NickyKiss wrote:Bilko just confirmed the grand final winners have had a days less rest in each year since 2013 bar one, so it’s not the supposed hard luck story Saints fans are bulling up.

They’ll be moaning about injuries next…

leg_end wrote:You like to come on here and pretend to be the "reasonable" face of redvee and Saints supporters but you couldn't wait to come on here and twist the knife into the Wigan club over a potential problem in the play offs. In answer to your question, if Sky choose the Saints game then Wigan could have a problem. Then again if Sky choose the Wigan game ( if they finish second that is) then there is no problem. So why don't we wait until Sky choose before arguing over rights and wrongs etc. I suppose I could head over to redvee to put this point of view over. Then again I don't think I will bother.

Twisted the knife? I came on here to say that I was very interested to see what happens as whether you like it or not it is a story. I also said "if" we finish top and "if" Wigan finish 2nd. Yes of course as NK says it may be that this situation doesn't develop if say Hudds snatch 2nd for example but the fact remains that it could happen so naturally it would be interesting to see what the RFL would do.

As for Saints fans loving a moan well I'm sorry but we are entitled to in this case. If we are forced to swap to a Saturday lunch time kick off then there are various factors to consider. AS FTV alludes to, we play nearly all our home games at 8pm on a Friday so the players are well versed in terms of match day preparation, sleep, eating habits etc. That changes to a 12:30 kick off and the routine changes.

Secondly what about income? Saturday kick off means fans will watch football games, its the amateur RL season with games being played so the attendance could be significantly reduced and a loss of income. So its not all about the extra days rest is it and the stats being thrown about in relation to previous GF winners .

At the end of the day this potential "situation" is not Saints fault and we should not be told to move a fixture (if this transpires)

I guarantee one thing, if this was the other way round Wigan fans would be moaning. And rightly so.

No, we go more or less every year so we are used to it to be fair.

With all due respect to both you and NK as you both seem like rational men, but I those posts are blinkered and neither answer the question of - why should they move it? I'm not bothered about how great they think their team is, or isn't, or how their injury record stacks up. That stuff is all just fluff thrown from fans on both sides.

All I want to know is why should Saints (if it goes that way), move their slot to accommodate a Wigan Athletic game?

The people in the wrong are Latics. It wouldn't have taken much to just say "oh Wigan RL MIGHT be in a home SF that weekend so we'll just ask to play away." It's not like other teams don't do this. Either that or have got massively lucky not to get a home fixture on the weekend of the GF since 1998.

Haven't Saints played home games on a Sunday afternoon this season?

What does it matter if they have, or haven't?

Football clubs can't just pick and choose when to play home or away. They can ask the league as Liverpool did a few seasons ago, but as with Coventry this season who have yet to play a home game despite being scheduled to do because of the damage the Commonwealth Games has done to the pitch, they could say no. Coventry have had to postpone 3 games.

There is nothing to suggest we will be forced to play away. Latics could move to Sunday (again at league approval) or given the number of people that bother with semi finals just play at Robin Park.

Because StuM and some other Saints fan are crying that they play all their games on a Friday so moving to a Saturday will disrupt them.

I note that you conveniently ommitted the loss of income too which I mentioned. Whether you think its crying, pathetic or not I'm not fussed. The fact remains that we could be affected for something which is not our fault.
