You aware aware that there's a cost of living crisis and for some a season ticket won't be affordable next season?

And the standard of rugby on display across SL is hardly getting the pulses racing, Saints are way out in front. Wigan, Catalans and Hudds look decent some weeks then flop, the rest are playing what would have been seen as a Championship level standadd 10 or so years ago.

At what point do we accept that Hull isn't actually a "rugby mad city" and do what they did with the academies and just become City of Hull?

One side has a good ground and brings nothing, the other brings nothing full stop.

The cost of living is down to peoples own expenses, I'm fine so don't need a band wagon excuse.
But I do agree regards the standard of SL and think teams need a chance to grow instead of panic buying to survive.

It is a Rugby mad city, not far off 20k fans turning out each week...but both clubs and fan bases have settled for mediocrity for too long, too many fans happy with a mid table finish as long as there is a derby win.

The academies merging didn't work, and the clubs merging will never work. SL is either stuck with us both clogging up the mid table or they flip a coin and pick one of us for a franchise and send the other to 'SL2'

Good that you are doing ok but many wont be able to afford the heating on this winter never mind a trip out to the Rugby.

I hope I am wrong but as a working class sport RL will take a hit, and Saints running away with a 4th title in a row while the rest slip further behind isnt helping matters in getting people through the gates. We also of course have a new TV deal to win.

Is that because your parents still pay everything for you?

I'm a 51 year old grown man who has worked hard all my life to have what I have, my parents have also done well and worked hard but I don't rely, now jog on with your silly comment!

I don't know when it happened but at some point Hull just seem to have become one of those serially dysfunctional clubs. So something terrible or chaotic happens and it no longer surprises you, like at Bradford or Leigh or somewhere.

Pearson seems a bit of a difficult bloke to work with/for but the main off-field problem seems to be that he's never been able to find anyone with real money to come in alongside him so they are always quite close to the bread line, if not over it with the way crowds have gone.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."
