Once Saints took the lead after about 30 minutes we knew heads would drop and it would be another mauling. It was just a case of how many. It's that predictable.

Saints even took the foot off the peddle in the second half. They could easily have scored more points.

And not forgetting Makinson missed a few kicks and due to the scoreline I felt came inside a couple of times rather than doing his famous dives to the corner flag. It could have been even worse.

“I thought we started-off reasonably well, but once fatigue hits we had some decision-making by key individuals which created some opportunities for St Helens and then they ground us into submission so it was very disappointing.”

There’s fatigue and then there’s being totally unfit. 4 tries in ten minutes then straight after half time it’s 3 tries in the first ten minutes.

Who is actually getting these players fit? Conditions are the same for both teams

Hull are a team of full time professionals and had the same playing conditions as Saints.

Can’t blame fatigue. Should look at discipline, attitude and decision making for starters.

Listened to BH interview on Humberside and he sounds like a man that hasn’t a clue. To say fatigue was the reason we got beat is quite honestly laughable if as a team we are so fatigued after 40 mins then what the hell are they doing in training and with the fitness staff? Not a lot by the sounds of it.

Mind you to play an aging player for 80 mins week in week out and then on a real scorcher the HC flogs him completely so after 25/30mins he was out on his feet and no matter where Houghton was in the defensive line St’s just exploited that and it’s so predictable. We also yet again fail to apply pressure to the opposition and make them use up energy by defending instead we go for glory on tackles 1 or 2 instead relieving pressure on the opposition and putting it on ourselves.
The injuries/missing players are just not an excuse or a reason for the manner of defeats which are all too familiar under BH.
The interchanges and use of the bench selection is another failure which BH seems to not learnt anything from.

As for Purtill I honestly fail to see what he has done while at the club.
I have no confidence in the current coaching set up that they know what they are doing or have any ability to get anything out of the players they have. Next season i fear will just once again be more of the same as there has been no evidence in 2 years under BH that he is capable or has implemented any structures other than a structure to collapse and capitulate with ease.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Disagree Wilf. Those ratings are over generous.

The reality of the situation will hit next season, as people will simply prioritise paying bills over watching a “project “

I’m hoping to hear from AP at some point, to see how he feels about things.
