Another poor signing if true
Why are we picking up these average players from Leeds? We need to be aiming much higher than this.
It isnt as though they are young players which the club tell us is now the way to go
There doesnt seem to be any planning going into recruitment apart from Hoy and Trueman
Dwyer scores some good tries but distribution is poor a la Houghton and defence non existent Highlighted last night on TV. Sutcliffe should have had a field day against HKR but as i said is bang average as a centre and too lightweight for a second row
So if he has signed and Houghton also then what as Dwyer will never start so its likely we are back to a Johnstone Houghton situation with Houghton moving to 13 when Dwyer comes on.Then we have Lovodua so what do we do with him unless he isnt signing.
We also have Balmforth who should have been getting some game time next season in this position but that now looks doubtful.
To be honest i dont think Hodgson knows what he is doing. He kept playing Connor at Full back because he said its his best position for the team yet when the emergence of real pace at full back like Field and French at Wigan highlighted how important it is now to have this attacking threat he has changed his mind and signed Hoy and now we will be looking where to play Connor.
Then since we have been done several times this season by a fast breaking nine from acting half we suddenly need Dwyer even though he signed Lovodua to do this job but has never been given the role.
Dont be surprised if Hodgson is the first coaching casualty of 2023

Guess we're still chasing a second row? No need for Smith now if Lovodua has resigned too?

Think we'll see Lovodua as a 14. Coming on and playing backrow/13 unless we get injuries, then he'll fill in wherever.

Does a bench of Taylor, Satae, Lovodua, Dwyer seem light? Or am I overthinking it?

No its P-ss poor
Apart from our front row on paper the whole team is lightweight especially the backs.
We definitely need a big mobile second row and our expected first choice backs of McIntosh,Tuimavave,Sutcliffe,Swift is very lightweight.
Where we end up playing Connor i dont know unless he is sold

when we had Fonua and fairmo you was always sprouting off about how we just have big lumps in the 3/4. Deary me you twist every signing to suit your agenda which is pulling FC at every possible turn

I'm ot his biggest fan, but he will bridge the gap for a season or 2 until Balmforth is ready for a full season. Dwyer brings a running game for sure. I just think we'll be pulling our hair out sometimes watching him. But who else is available.

If we can bring in a forward, a middle or edge we've got a few ways we can go.

Hodgson has added a good SL centre to the squad, a young British international half, a young half/Full back with pace and a point to prove. Potentially a hooker with a running game. I don't get the massive negativity with this recruitment cycle.

Question marks around Lovodua/Smith and some other areas, but it'll probably come out in the wash

If we have signed Dwyer and Houghton is getting another year then I really can’t see what we do with Lovodua. Personally think since his first few games he’s been pretty average and he’s certainly not a SR or LF. Unless the Dwyer signing means one of Lovodua or Houghton are not returning next season I just don’t see the logic in the decision to sign another average 9. Yes he has some pace etc but that was what was said about Lovodua when he was signed to play 9. Just think if we are to challenge the likes of St’s, Wigan etc then signings like Dwyer are questionable.
Just have a feeling that instead of seeing Houghton, Lovodua & Johnstone on the pitch at the same time which offered us nothing whatsoever we’ll just see Houghton, Lovodua and Dwyer instead.
I’m not a negative person but seem to be in the minority in not being keen or convinced in the signing of Dwyer.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Think the club have realised that to get the best out of the younger, quicker pivots we’ve signed, we need a nine who can jump out and make quick yards. Dwyer is probably the best available at this time.

I personally wouldn’t keep Lovodua. I suspect we have though. All I can think is he’ll be cheaper than Will Smith, but I know who I’d keep out the two.

Think the succession plan will be Houghton / Dwyer in 2023, then Balmforth / Dwyer after that.

Its called having your own opinion Chris
My opinion is the signing of Dwyer and Sutcliffe are not the level we should be looking at if we want to be a serious contender for silverware.
At the moment we are miles off
There are too many posters on here in a self-congratulatory echo chamber that just follow each other.
Bit pathetic really

Re Lovodua we might see him bulk up a bit more if he moves to backrow/13?

He was all set to go to Saints too until Roby decided to go round again

A spine of of Hoy, Connor, Trueman, Houghton/Dwyer with Lovodua coming on at 13 should have more spark, pace and flair than we have now.

Please tell us who would be available and the level of signing we should be looking at?

They are arguably an improvement on what we have but as usual you focus on criticising than any positives.

You keep banging on about pace being important in the modern game. Which it is.

Dwyer is quicker than Houghton? Hoy is quicker than Connor?

We are building and making gradual improvements but again you focus on criticising than any positives?

Fair enough it’s your opinion. But your opinion is to always criticise?
