Put it this way, if Sutcliffe is Leaving next year and we've got the option of Sutcliffe or Gildart for the rest of the season it might not be as odd as first looks. Gildart has struggled at Wests but he is a n international class Centre.
If the choice was Gidart and Newman or Sutcliffe and Newman as our centres which would you choose?
Tbh I’d rather have kept Sutty for this season. Good art hardly played and been awful whenever has for Wests. Also completely disinterested for Wigan last year…..

But if as I've seen on twitter ( I know, I know...) Wests are paying a massive chunk of his salary, and Sutcliffe is going at the end of the year.
All I'm saying is I think there's more to this than just playing ability - I think there's a lot of shifting about with the Salary Cap this year as the rules have changed on it.

Stop being such a whiner. You wanted a left centre and Uncle Rohan went out and got you one. Some folks are never happy.

If that is the case then it makes a bit more sense, otherwise it seems pointless as it doesn't appear to be long term (unless it ends up being long term).... i just wonder if they are like you say creating cap space for a top forward...
I'd take Gildhart long term tbh. Much better than Sutcliffe.

Gildarts average, believed his own hype, and really don’t think he improves us or is better than Sutcliffe. Ha’s the New Ben Crooks

That is the only reason I can think of to make sense of it, if it was a permanent signing it would be different but till the end of the year it's got be a cap space juggling thing.
If it was a proper signing I agree, Gildart is better centre than Sutcliffe, younger aswell

If this is the case then clearly RS has already decided he does not want to resign Sutcliffe for next year, and I assume we may have someone else lined up for centre next year, or we are going with Newman Hardaker and having Simpson, Handley (started as a Centre) Edwards as back up. With Orpherts as wing back up. Its a right Merry go round

Sutcliffe is signed until 2024 which makes it all a bit bizarre
