It’s not just about the 1-13, our players with squad numbers 18-25 have played plenty of games for us this year.

Are we not past this? Should cover and playing opportunities not exist within the academy squad players like Edwards next year rather than using cap for 30+ outside backs? Surely every penny available should be invested in the priority of the front row.

Olpherts stats going forward are quite surprising. 1st in SL for tackle busts, 3rd for carries completed and 9th for meters made... seems a bit of a rough diamond to me, some good coaching could improve that.

Smith was at the Jungle last week v Catalans watching Olpherts, he’d be a useful signing IMO. Surprised to see transfer news on Walker, thought he would feature regularly under the new coach with his undoubted running game.

Always depends on what you have coming through, doesn't it?Some of the names I've seen put forward as internal alternatives fall short in my opinion. Tindall, despite his strength and speed, has some fundamental weaknesses of a coach killing nature; Edwards and Simpson are both centres and also very young. Loan spells in the championship would be better for them. Other than that you are delving straight into the academy. As long as he doesn't get in the way of priority recruitment in the pack I'm OK with it.

That's probably right AC. It seems that Smith has made his mind up re players with specific flaws. He may give Tindall some time but Smith seems to value outside backs that don't make too many defensive errors. If Fusitu'a leaves Olpherts would be a downgrade, but then it would be up to Tindall to push past him anyway.
