I recall a trinity team having an exhibition American football game at BV against an American Air Force team, around the mid 1970s. If memory serve well then it was the game that Ian Brook suffered that serious ankle injury that almost finished his career.

Julian Clary, or Joan Collins Fan Club, once 'appeared' or did a turn on the pitch in a big tent :)
I didn't see him, wasn't included on my season ticket.

I went to that. One of my earliest memories of BV .
Seemed strange seeing the pitch marked up with lines every 10m... now

Was the US personnel from RAF Mildenhall from Suffolk as I recall. Maybe 1971???

There is an interesting piece regarding Belle Vue and the early development of the ground in '100 YEARS OF RUGBY, The history of Wakefield Trinity Football Club 1873-1973' by JC Lindley.

I bought that book at that time along with a special franked envelope and a card with information of the club honours to that date. The envelope and card are in a frame on the house wall. :D
