Nurture the likes of Edwards and Simpson - sure.
Sutcliffe is never a centre in a month on Sundays.
We definitely need a centre. Briscoe has had the finger pointed at him but you don't know how well he's played as he's been 2 years without a decent centre. Props do set platforms but the don't win games. Newman plus another good centre with maybe Sutcliffe as back up is a minimum. We can't keep playing 2nd rowers there.

But in a salary cap sport you look at your requirements in a list format. Given what we have, what we don’t have and what may be developing then centre isn’t as pressing as a prop x2, a hard running back rower who is a game changer and potentially a quality half back. If we can recruit two top line props, a quality back rower then I am all for getting a centre but it wouldn’t be my priority.

I'd love to have a better option than Sutcliffe, but we have a couple of kids in Edwards and Simpson who will be next to get a chance, and I'd rather not block them by signing another centre (that's assuming Broadbent is on his way). Two props ought to be the priority, with other positions only considered once we have them sorted.

A quality centre is an absolute must and the first thing we need to address imho. Not replacing Hurrell was criminal and I’d be prepared to loose Martin if we need the quota spot. I know he kicks, but so does Hardaker and Sezer.

Totally agree. Going and spending big money on a centre would be crazy and suggests we don't expect any of Broadbent, Edwards or Simpson to make it. Stating the blindingly obvious again, but prop is the priority.

I’m not saying we don’t need props too, but we basically create nothing for our wingers from centre. We can’t compete and it’s a waste of time having good finishers as we are…..

Don't think it's nuts. We could really benefit from a quality left centre, but as you say props are the most critical issue. Prior and Tet have got a lot of stick this season, and maybe rightly so. However they (also Oledzki) are massively overstretched. Our only other authentic prop has managed less than 30 games in four seasons in the first team squad, so even next year, when he is hopefully neither injured nor banned, he still won't be far out of the novice category. We need to be in the position where he (Holroyd) is our 6th option rather than our 4th. If he can start to deliver on his potential and force his way into our first choice prop quartet, it would be great, but it would be foolish to count on it.
