Where do we see the club in the next three years ? is it realistic for us to ambitions of superleague in that time or are we happy being a strong championship club ?
Obviously Grix has signed for 3 years where do we see the club at the end of that spell?
I was watching the full 80 minutes last night and they were discussing the financial superiority of fev n Leigh , they were reportedly to have roughly spent or will have spent one million on their squads come the play offs , the likes of fax , Bradford, York , Newcastle in the region of 400 grand , is it realistic for the fans to expect to compete with this , one of the guys insinuated that Ian croad might throw money at the team later in the season, I’m not sure we have them finances. The discussion on the championship starts at 1:21:15 https://youtu.be/_Af90eH7g28

We would have to know where the game is going and where it will be in 3 years and the way the powers that be keep changing their minds who can predict what’s next.

All things being equal though.

Not a chance of us coming up with the type of income required over a sustained period whichever way I have looked at it.

First, even the likes of the current leading sides in Fev and Leigh and let’s say it will be from them having spent all that money one of them will miss out and we will be up against them and whoever comes down.

Second, for the one who does go up then they will almost certainly have to spend considerably more even to have a chance of not coming straight back down again that’s if P&R is still on the table.

Unless something radically changes with the current income streams in the current and foreseeable difficult financial future it will be more of the same at best is my guesstimate.

It is a interesting question where we will be at as a club in 3 years time. A lot will depend on what the new alignment between the rfl and super league does to the structure of the sport overall and more importantly the distribution of money to the lower leagues. If it stays to similar levels as it is now it is hard to see us being anything more then the best of the rest in the second tier and even that takes some doing. By that i mean there is always at least 2 teams in this division with more money then us and unless they don't use that money well we are going to struggle to get the better of them. The main thing for me is that we keep progressing on and off the pitch and as far as off the pitch goes i think the club are making a good effort on that front but it takes time to see the benefits of those efforts. As far as on the pitch goes i am not convinced we have the right man in charge to get the best out of the team we have and address any short comings the team have. And to finally answer the question am i happy being a strong championship club the short answer to that would be no.

I personaly cant see much changing in 3 years apart from been a top 6 championship club.
Grix
The only way is if someone comes in with millions to spend on the team which i cant see happening. The likes of Leigh ,fev toulouse (if they come down) will always have the money to throw around

I dont think the halifax business model would enable promotion. Renting a ground and no bar events or merchandise income of note
Non of the directors have the financial backing of the likes of leigh
Hard to see where the game as a whole is going other than a slow decline . Even the likes of mighty leeds could soon come a cropper.
The future unfortunately doesnt look bright particularly in current times when the punters are struggling to pay Bill's let alone go on the beer for a day and pay to watch rugby.
We have to face facts that rugby league is currently unfashionable and almost a past era whilst the world has moved on. It is only because of the commitment of individuals that fax has survived so far but the mountain is getting steeper
The current positive is a strong squad that will hopefully get better with time together
How it progresses is down to the coaching ability. I too remain unconvinced by grix but welcome him to prove us wrong . It's a results based job .
