Tackling again.... Name me a hooker who can't tackle? Every hooker can tackle

But you said he’s stifling our attack?

Invariably he’s at acting half and first to touch the ball in a move. Therefore he will have had some part to play (however small) in most tries we score.

Christ you sound like you want him to do it all.

Tackling. Very important part of the game. How many hookers make more tackles than he does?

A under 8 hooker at West hull will do the same then!

Roby daryl Clark make 40 tackles a game yet still have amazing attacking games

Houghton tackles and thats all

You serious?

Neither Roby or Clark are currently in the top 20 of super league for tackles?

Guess who is number one?

Neither are they anywhere in the stats for tries or assists?

Strange that!

You said Houghton touches ball for every try at the play the ball.... Well yeah hookers at Myton or east Leeds will do the same someone has to pass the ball from dummy half

Andy ackers is 2nd
Sam Powell 3rd

Oh yeah all 3 are hookers!

Houghton isn't on the assist list either what's your point?

How many hookers are in the top 20?

If you want to use stats I'd suggest you do some research first or you will look stupid, particularly on try involvements you have mentioned.

So let's look at those stats, you often mention Clarke and Roby

Houghton 2 trys, 2 assists
Roby 2 trys 2 assists
Clarke 1 try 0 assists

So Houghtons try contributions compare to other top hookers so far this year.

I posted this on the Wigan thread and it appears it shut you up, I’ll try again.
“So single handedly Houghton has held our attack back. Preposterous, we haven’t had an attack to speak of for 5 years. Radford’s 5 drives and a Sneyd kick held it back. We saw glimpses of Hodgson’s attacking style last year but definitely this year and Danny has played a full part. Why have you got such a massive downer on our collective team and coach. I’d hate to be next to you at a game but you probably don’t attend, there used to be a lot of so called supporters like you at The Boulevard, but at least they paid to criticise. Clueless.”

In regards to the discussion re Houghton, its not that he isn't good enough anymore the issue is more how we have used or rather overused him for years. Unfortunately he is no longer the player he was 5 years ago and we can not expect him to continue week in week out to perform at a consistent level if we are flogging him for 80mins every week.

That is for me that is the issue that we need to address, playing him but spelling him in games we would get much more benefit and see a big difference in games. Leaving him on for 80mins does us little favour as by about the 60min mark he's practically out of gas.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Fully agree but the lack of first teamers either through injury or suspension has unfortunately meant he’s been used for the full 80 minutes, now we have practically a full squad, I expect Lovodua to play loose man and Lane to come off the bench so Lovodua can spell Houghton.

Not always, a few times he has an unused sub, could have give Johnstone a spell there last week.
