Similar thing with Parramatta, so why we persist with players who get pushed back by a hungry opposition is baffling. The backs are fine when the opposition line is disjointed , but when they're set to defend and pin us down, the big men are needed, as they do not concede as much ground when the opposition forwards pile in mob handed. There are some glaring inconsistencies with our game plans, on Thursday I do think we had no idea of how to finish our sets near their line and for all I have criticised him previously, Sneyd would have managed that so much better for us to see the game out I think. We no longer possess the aerial threat of Mahe and Talanoa, so put the ball on the floor, which often produces a drop out or even an error from a scrambling defence.
Had Sneyd played, I don't think we would have been in a winning position our attack is so much better this year, alot less wayward passes and inside balls.
Not sure why on the last, Gale doesn't kick and Connor move out to centre, such a dangerous weapon.

What Liam farrell Eden Cas winger ( can't remember his name he barely played since ) from memory all the in the last 8/9 months
And all 4 was trys that was terrible
Farrell esp was just embarrassing that is probably the main reason why he's not in the England squad
If your full back can't catch Liam farrell then what's the chances of catching latrell Mitchell or addo Carr
Oh and shaul would of stopped all of them trys 100%
Just conjecture pure and simple.
Unfortunately Shaul hasn't been a top player for a couple of years now and in fairness whilst Connor may not have the pace that Shaul once had its the other attributes to his game that far outweigh Shauls. Yes he has been a good player for us in previous seasons but I doubt Shaul would be picked up by many teams in the top 6 and that is a fair indication of things. I think the Taulapapa tackle (if you can even call it that) has probably left its mark on Jamie as I honestly don't think he has been the same player since if I'm honest.
At the end of the day if we want to be serious and competing for silverware then keeping players on sentiment its never going to work.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

I agree I just think the modern day player needs to be able to adapt to a number of different positions and play at a good standard,we have seen Griff and swift move to fullback during a game and look comfortable,Mitch and wynne have looked good in the centre positions lately ,if it was true and shaul was working on the wing position during pre season well it obviously hasn't worked because he looked like a fish out of water against Castleford. I'd love to be proved wrong but I just don't think he has the skills to adapt to another position and wouldn't even be in my 17 anymore

Well Taylor definitely needs to be gone end of season cause hes hardly played last 3 years so agree with that about sentiment

I'm fairly confident that, bearing the financial news we've just had, Adam will be having serious conversations with BH about the need to trim our playing budget. As Dave says, the days of rewarding longevity should be behind us. They lads coming through the academy are showing their worth and I would sooner see them rewarded than someone who has been a good servant but who's course has now run.

Have you noticed also that we are not kicking to force any goal line drop outs lately

To be fair, I can count the number of play the balls we had in Wigan's 20m on one hand, so were never close enough to even try it (Gale's shocking kick excluded)

Cant see any sentimental decisions this time around either as a player or job in the backroom staff because you are a Hull boy

one of the main reasons Jake struggles v the Top teams is that he’s too busy defending all the time
He’s shattered coming out of his own half
that’s why your best ball players play at 6 so they are fresh when attacking
you don’t ask your best bowler to take wicket when he’s not bowling and also open batting
In a tough match Jake would be shattered defending , and this is what’s happening.
Get Wynne at FB and move Jake
i have only seen Wynne at full back once, - against Wigan a couple of seasons ago absolutely useless. dropped every bomb. fumbled the ball under no pressure, missed tackles.- - - Don't Know why Shaul gets so much flack on here, & Taylor doesn't. Last season both suffered long term injuries, Taylor came back like a tub of lard,& played like one. Shaul was nowhere near his best, but came back in good nick. A great front on tackle against Rovers & a superb ball & all tackle on a flying Leeds centre? Connor s defence & lack of pace are a worry, but i do have faith in Hodgson. I just hope Wynne isn't our back up fullback. We seem to have a glut of centres atmo & i'm pretty sure Carlos was playing at full back/No6 when at Newcastle. Might be an option when Connor is injured/suspended if Mitch keeps playing well.
