Good prospect is Will and would get better the more game time he gets in, better to play in the reserves than just be left sitting on his butt or carrying a water bottle. Someone else would be left out of the 17 if he wasn’t so who would that be when there’s not a lot to choose between most of them? Every club has a batch of players who rotate in and out of the starting team more than others it’s as much a part of the game as anything else.

Exactly, if gee and Knowles were fit the rotation would be even greater , it’s a long season , I appreciate some people want our own reserves but that’s not possible right now , someone has to miss out , I don’t think it’s personal.

Compared to last year when we could hardly scrape 17 together including the walking wounded who played for weeks when they really shouldn’t have and selection was a choice from who’s carrying the least knocks surely we should be glad to have the rotation option to choose from a bigger squad than complain about it?

I think in the forwards there’s only been gwaze , Murray and tangata who haven’t been dropped at some stage . Gwaze and Murray have been excellent, tangata admittedly hasn’t been top notch yet , his time might may come through the course of the season.
It’s a bit of a dilemma with young players. To realise their full potential on the one hand they need to play as much as possible but by definition whilst in the learning stage they are performing at less than their potential. To play them when you have a number to choose from equates to leaving out another young player with equal potential or someone with more experience whose performances are just as good or slightly better. Not an easy or a straightforward choice.
Why are we rotating players when we have only been playing one game every fortnight for some weeks now. It is like we are resting players before we have even got going this season. And considering people keep saying we need time to gel it will take longer if the team keeps getting changed game to game. If players are injured or ill fair enough but most of the players that have been left out have been playing for huddersfields reserves. As for the team for sunday i would go with.

larroyer gwaze tangata moore
Agree on arundal , he’s sound defensively but offers little in attack . Calcott isn’t in the 21 man squad so I will go
Woody Salty McComb Arundal Walmsey Jouffret ( 50/50 with him and Aston ) Keyes Murray Moore Tangata Kavanagh Hewitt Fairbank
Wood Gwaze Barber Morris
Tbh I’d be happy with any of the forwards and I’ve picked jouffret over Aston but happy either way .

The reasons are injuries, illness, form and on form there are several who still haven’t shown enough to be shoe ins or certain starters and you can only completely gel across the board when the bulk of the 21 are ticking those boxes and comes from a combination of both the work done during the week in training and playing on match day as much of it before the whistle blows not only after it.
As stated 17 into 21 doesn’t go so it’s either the reserves or nowt and something must be better than nothing.
Of those still in the fighting it out slots I’m not fussed who plays.
Just the halves to decide on, if they are all fit Keyes plus any 1 from 2 providing LJ is fully recovered from his hammy, if not then I would give him another weeks rest and go with Aston.
Joe is an example of putting his marker down as being a certain starter, the pack needs to do the same.
CA and LJ are selection examples based on injury, illness and form both with different qualities likely to be fighting it out for the rest of the season all other things being equal but even if both were playing to their best one of them would be left out as other players have, as 21 into 17 doesn’t work neither does 3 into 2.

One solution could be to increase the number of allowed substitutions from 4 to 6 to choose from for teams who have enough players. If there was a cap of say a maximum of 2 additions allowed from DR / loan or whatever it’s called these days in the 21 then you would have the possibility of up to 19 own club players either starting or on the bench on match days. It would also help with player welfare in preventing players staying on the pitch after having taken a knock. Just a thought.
