Probably even tougher on the players than Furner so would upset the comfort zone and could prove another disaster.
Would we want someone with a tainted history in the sport as well.
The assistant coach at Penrith is getting good reports and appears to be wanted by Wayne Bennett as his assistant at the new NRL club the Dolphins.
Sounds like he could turn out to be another Justin Holbrook, but again would he be tempted.

There would be some initial pain with Flanagan I think but the benefits would come given 2 years. Let’s be honest it can’t be much worse with or without the ball.

We been pretty poor since the GF win in 2015.

Furner was in charge for 11 games. He won 4 of his last 7 games and took over a team that finished losing 2 games out of 7 in the 2018 scrubbers scramble.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying he was a stunning success but he had naff all to work with. Crosby and Ablett played no games all year, JJB was awful. Ferres was too and Stevie Ward played 5 games all year plus Cuthbo was on last legs. He had Peteru and singo with Merrin.
Board / Dor would need to properly back Flanagan to go through the pain and come out the other side.

I should add I can’t see Flanagan coming. We are not advertising for a cleaner at a council leisure centre. We should be identifying who we want and going after them.

Any Aussie would need a lot of reassurance to come now because I’m sure they would talk to Furner....

What reassurances can we give? Think we need a young British coach. Think we missed a trick with Watson. Don’t think any decent Ozzie coach will touch us with a barge pole after the Furner saga…..

I wouldn't read that much into it. All Pro coaches know the likely outcome when performances and results aren't up to scratch. Any worth their salt would back themselves to do rather better.

Generally I agree but to travel to the other side of the world and with associated family impact to consider, any good coach is going to want assurances they’ll get More than 11 games to fix things up.

On a more positive note , Levi Edwards made a good try for York today.

Anthony seibold? Think he’s over here working with England RU?

Did well at south’s, then had the poisoned chalice of Brisbane Broncos.

Looks like he scored one too. Tindall also got over for Bradford.

That could be a good move. Highly rated.

Lprhino wrote:Thing is a big part of DOR will be recruitment and retention. I am just not convinced Agar scores that well in this area, in particular recent calls.

Donaldson - 2 year extension
Briscoe - retained a further year
Thompson - 2 year contract
Austin - was let go by wire
Sezer - hudds didn’t seem overly keen to keep him
Tetevano - marquee money for a prop who isn’t in the top 5 performing props in the competition

For me it is a massive summer and off season, we have players off contact and others we need to be talking to about leaving early if they are agreeable.

Briscoe - gone
Austin - gone
Sezer - if agreeable gone
Martin - gone
Mellor - gone
Dwyer - gone
Tetevano - if agreeable gone
Prior - I think he will retire and I have no issue with that given his age and what we need from our props
Donaldson - if agreeable gone
Mustapha - gone
Thompson - gone

Does Agar from his previous conduct with some of those players have the ability to make those decisions and be in charge of that element of the club. For me he doesn’t, he hasn’t shown any real ability to select the right players or characters.

Too early to write off Austin and Sezer. They’re not playing for their coach imo. Same for Tetevano

Heard a tale we were in contact with him before he got a much bigger offer of coin from England.
